umm.... punk eek fits right within evolution. it is basically like "evolution progresses for a bit, has a pit stop, progresses a bit more, waits for a while again and so on.Logic said:I'd go make some clam chowder, New England style, I'd put it inside of a hollowed out keyser bun and let gluttony get the best of me. If evolution was disproven, it would probably mean puctuated equilibrium was proven, so I'd go with that (I know it's a form of evolution, but technically it's not the same thing).
fair enough. well I still don't know. In the case that a booming voice told me that literal creationism was true, I would wonder why that booming voice had provided such a deception, and wonder whether to trust it or not.Norseman said:We're running under the assumption that both evolution is proved false and creation is proved true. Not that because evolution is proven false creation true. At least that's what I think he's saying, though admittedly a most common mistake among creationists is to asssume that if evolution is false that creation is true, but I will try to be generous to his position to avoid creating a strawman.
As for alternate possibilities, just assume that somehow it was exactly as genesis said. So yes, while aliens might have created us, if these were the same aliens that produced Jesus and whatnot then I see nothing wrong with praising them. I think we could rule out another deity; what possible reason would it have to prove another religion true?
well I suppose that isn'T the topic of the threadP4g4nite said:Why has no one asked the obvious in counter of the OP?
"If the almighty Ogg appeared to you in the cosmic teacup, would you convert to Oggism? or would you blindly and falsely continue whatever unholy belief you held previously?
Its for perspectives sake, well I suppose that isn'T the topic of the threadcounter-questions are ok, but question-counter question - counter counter question can get boring after a while.
TwinCrier said:I mean if the all forms of evolution were absolutely, positively, totally disproven. No ifs ands or buts. Say even an audible voice boomed from the sky and told you biblical creation were totally true. What would YOU do?
I'm asking an honest question and so I am looking for honest answers. I do not have hidden motives.
Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.Karl - Liberal Backslider said:Is this sort of expression of faith - believing what you know isn't true - really considered a virtue in YEC circles?
If evolution were disproven, I'd have a good think, which the ultimate result would be : "well, shucks." - and then continue on with things as normal.
Of course i'd eventually switch to whatever theory had the greatest support that i could see.
So what would be your position if YEC were proven to be true?Jeremy_the_Atheist said:BTW, for the record, I didn't vote. None of the options given accurately represent my position.
But then, you know that David Copperfield didn't make the statue of liberty disappear.TwinCrier said:Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
It's not believing what you "know can't be true." Even TE's admit that God is capable of creating the world in 6 days. It's belieiving what you see with your heart as opposed to your eyes. I saw David Copperfield make the statue of liberty disappear. I still don't believe it.
