Evolutionists: If evolution was absolutely disproven, what would you do?

umm.... punk eek fits right within evolution. it is basically like "evolution progresses for a bit, has a pit stop, progresses a bit more, waits for a while again and so on.

As for alternate possibilities, just assume that somehow it was exactly as genesis said. So yes, while aliens might have created us, if these were the same aliens that produced Jesus and whatnot then I see nothing wrong with praising them. I think we could rule out another deity; what possible reason would it have to prove another religion true?

fair enough. well I still don't know. In the case that a booming voice told me that literal creationism was true, I would wonder why that booming voice had provided such a deception, and wonder whether to trust it or not.

I voted I don't know (for lack of a better option), since evolution proven false does not mean that the Genesis account is true. However, after reading the discussion, I realize I misread the question. Still my answer will be I don't know. I would highly doubt the booming voice since he planted so much fake evidence. But then again, I could laugh that away and have a beer with the booming voice, since I'd say It would have a pretty good sense of humor in that way. It can't be the Christian God though, since I was always told the Christian God does not trick people that way.

I'd probably ask the big, booming voice where the hell it was coming from and what it meant by making weird mysterious pronouncements. Then about six hours later I'd come back down and try a different kind of mushroom next time, 'cos auditory hallucinations aren't my thing

I'm asking an honest question and so I am looking for honest answers. I do not have hidden motives.

That´s what I hate in hypothetical questions: when the asking person does not give enough informations, or gives contradicting informations.

1. If all forms of Evolution were falsified, I would have to look for a different explanation.

2. If 6 day creation was shown to be true, I would accept that, and adjust my position to a more biblical one.

3. If there was a booming voice from the sky that told me thing, I would try to verify it, and act according to the outcome.

So it depends on which of the events scattered throughout your post would happen.

If something's shown beyond all reasonable doubt to be true, then there's little point trying to believe something else, is there?

Important difference between this and the other poll - no-one here has voted "believe it anyway". This is in marked contradiction to the other poll where good proportion of repondants have indicated they would carry on believing something they now knew wasn't true.

Is this sort of expression of faith - believing what you know isn't true - really considered a virtue in YEC circles?

I haven't read through much thread yet, but what the hey! I've voted and now I want to give voice to my opinion, and if it's merely an echo of something already said; more fool me.

I note that the poll is based on the hypothesis that evolution is disproven (although I'd be happier with the term falsified) AND that YEC is shown to be the best explanation of the evidence. Therefore, how can anyone who is honest with themselves do anything but become a YEC? As to the flavour of religious belief, there are many to choose from, but I suspect that becoming a born-again Godbotherer would be my option.

Of course the poll appears to assume that the falsifying of most of the theories of the physical sciences automatically means that YEC is correct - which is probably one of the least likely eventualities. Hypotheticals are fun, but.

Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
It's not believing what you "know can't be true." Even TE's admit that God is capable of creating the world in 6 days. It's belieiving what you see with your heart as opposed to your eyes. I saw David Copperfield make the statue of liberty disappear. I still don't believe it.

If evolution were disproven, I'd have a good think, which the ultimate result would be : "well, shucks." - and then continue on with things as normal.

Of course i'd eventually switch to whatever theory had the greatest support that i could see.

This sums up my position.

But then, you know that David Copperfield didn't make the statue of liberty disappear.

I'm talking about believing things you know aren't true, which is different from believing things you know are true even though they don't look it at first glance. Remember, the poll was a hypothetical situation in which YEC was absolutely 100% proven false.

id adapt my views, maybe not necessarily to the bible, unless the bible account of creation was absolutely proven true. But i would review my own theories, Compare them to others along a wide range, Study a bit myself then draw up my OWN conclusions (scientificaly), like i do now. Then praise God, cos he made the Earth no matter how you beleive he did it.

I'd adapt my vieuws to the next best scientifical thing that then comes a long. I would not keep on believing evolution, and I would not become a fundamental Christian.

I'd become a bible believing born again Christian.

I'd still believe it anyway.
