Evil is the word "live" backwards...

yeah...I don't think there's any relation between 'live' and 'evil' just because they are reverses of each other.

English is more of an amalgamation of nearly every other language out there. Whatever the English empire conquered..some of the local language was absorbed. Most medical terms come from Latin, most math terms have their roots in arabic..etc..

Just because 'live' is 'evil' backwards, doesn't mean that the world 'live' is 'evil' in itself. They have two different meanings. Not even opposite meanings..completely different meanings.

Thanks everyone for contributing to my thread. Sorry if my theory doesn't align with your beliefs.

Maybe I chose the wrong denominational thread to throw it out there... Or maybe it's completely wrong... whatever. The reality is that I'm just happy to have found such a large forum with so many Believers in God.

I'm not. There's a lot of strange things about the English language, buy maybe it's like this with all language...

For example, just the other day I realized how strange it is that morning and mourning sound exactly the same, and that when people say "morning" and "hello" as greetings to each other, they are saying a word that also means "deep sorrow" along with saying the word hell as the first sound...

I just think it's odd and I bet it has some sort of impact on our psychology...

It doesn't. I've never heard anyone mention this before and many millions of people in this country say "good morning" and "hello" several times every day without any ill effects whatsoever on them or the hearer.

Christ died to free us from such pharisaical nonsense. Why anyone would purposely choose to enslave themselves to it and spend their time dwelling on such crap is beyond me.

My Dad used to tell me the some folks are so "heavenly" minded, they're no earthly good.

Hi. Just thought I would add to this, I have studied ancient Hebrew for a little while now and it's interesting looking at it from this perspective also, for example good and evil from the root words are function and dysfunction.

The parent root for dysfunction is a picture of a head and an eye which transliterates as "ra" or "ro", reversed when read as "ar" or "or" means naked.

To go further good transliterates as tobe or tove in modern Hebrew, which is a picture of a basket and a house and means surround our contained house.

Reversed this still has a positive meaning of house contained which means refuge.

In English words used to have a lot deeper meaning than the now very abstract words that we use now, and believe it or not, pretty much the English alphabet is derived from the Hebrew aleph bet (first 2 letters of Hebrew alphabet).

For example the first 2 letter aleph meaning strong is a picture of a ox head, which when turned upside down is the capital English a, and has the same phonetic sound, and the second letter beyt means house which was s picture of a tent plan and is where the capital b came from originally.

Together these letters make strong house or strength of the house, transliterates as ab or av which means father, and sound similar, as when spoken sounds like aah ve.

There is much more I can say, could talk about this all day but I have already diverged slightly.

Can I just give you a tip from my own personal experience? I think you're over analyzing things - I've done that too. And it doesn't lead to anything profitable, just empty speculation.

Just let it go and focus on doing the things Yaweh has definitely called you to do, both in the Scriptures and in your own personal life.
