  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I don't know much about what this means or what the statement is but I don't like the name or feeling I get when seeing it. I noticed one of my spiritual friends of god was wearing this bracelet after church and I told her I didn't think it was good but I couldn't explain why. Sure enough, I came home and my sister wanted to show off her new bracelet and it was the same evil eye bracelet. I had an unsettling feeling. I see it pop up more and more. What can I say to those I love wearing it? Is it just me?

Personally, I think it looks rather creepy. However, if that's what they want to wear I don't think any amount of your telling them it's bad is going to change anything. Ask them "what does it represent?". If they give you the correct meaning then you know they are making a decision to wear it even though they know the meaning. Pressing them to not wear it will only make them defensive toward you and will not change their decision. If they don't know the meaning behind it then perhaps you can ask them to look it up on "Google" so they can explain it to you. Again though, they may still continue to wear it. If they ask your thoughts on it, give your thoughts but remember it's still their choice. You can pray though for the Holy Spirit to speak to them about it. They need to hear the Holy Spirits voice for themselves.

Prayer changes everything!

It is true, that if there are spirits attached to jewelry and you try to talk people out of wearing it, they will often get defensive and not listen to you. However, the Holy Spirit can lead you to say the right thing at the right time.

I suggest prayer; and when you speak to them do so out of faith, trusting God to fill your mouth with just the right words to break through the resistance of the enemy.

When I visited Istanbul , Turkey , these were very popular. They are occult symbols meant to ward off evil spirits and to ward off curses people might try to place upon a person by giving them the evil eye.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evil_eye

Given the cultural back round , it may be that Jesus was using this expression about the evil eye, in these verses. it basically means evil intentions. The superstition is that those evil intentions can place a curse on someone...

Mat 20:15 Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine own? Is thine eye evil, because I am good?

Mat 6:23 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!

It is not just you. The 'eye' is the symbol in the paleo-hebrew for the letter 'ayin'. It actually has several meanings. It can be a physical eye or represent a vaginal opening or any sexual orifice.

To give you an example, the Hebrew word Da'at is 'dalet', 'ayin', 'tav'. Each letter has a meaning. Dalet is a doorway, ayin is an eye and tav is a cross or covenant. When combined it is using the 'door way of the eye in covenant'. It is the Hebrew word for 'knowledge' ie knowledge comes by reading about the covenant in scripture using the doorway of the eye. It also has a sexual connotation as in 'carnal knowledge' where it is again 'using the doorway of the 'eye' in covenant' but means sexual activity within the confines of a marriage covenant.

They eye is also used as a sexual reference within paganism. What do you think the 'eye of Rah' is a reference to? Sexual worship was a heavy part of the ancient paganism.

So an 'eye' can have both a positive and a negative connotation but is more generally associated with the sexual aspect when used as a symbol. It is a representation of a 'evil woman' that uses sexual tactics against men as a means of control. It is an attracter for Jezebel type spirits as are symbols of the moon representing the moon goddess of witchcraft.
