Why is it when I say things like this
I get replys like this

So, whether or not you think it is harsh, it is real. You yecs are driving people away from the faith. I think the fastest way to atheism is through YEC.

I absolutely agree with you, may all be to his glory, but being silly and stupid is not to his glory. Ignoring data is not to his glory. Being wrong is not to his glory. But that is what YEC is all about.

Ok now the reason I ask is this.

I have heard it said over and over on these boards and the crevo board that all TE's and OEC's want from YEC's is for us not to think our interpretaion is without error and that you could belive as you felt and still be our brothers/sisters. This is how I feel but when I express that I feel this way I get "well it doesnt matter you are still in league with the devil because you belive YEC"(paraprasing of course) Come on people. Now I'm asking for the same thing you say you are asking for, my right to interpret the way feel is best.If I was to make such allegations, you guys would................well lets just say it wouldn't be pretty. I belive we are all still brothers and sisters here and I ask that we lift eachother up regaurdless of our petty differences. May God bless.

Wow. I apologize 1denomination that you have received such harsh words from others. You, and I believe only you publically, have said on these forum as a YEC you would agree to disagree and move on, not arguing against TE/OECs.

1denomination, I have been suspicious that this is not about agreeing to disagree, this is about exterminationg a yec belief. If it was about agreeing to disagree, you would have never received those comments you did. People wouldn't continually be posting how yec is of the devil and a foundation of lies on here. People wouldn't being saying that not only is it bad science, but it is bad theology, hence bad faith.

I can keep quiet on the comments about yec being bad science. But, when I keep seeing the comments being made that it is bad theology and a bad basis for faith, this shows this argument is NOT about agreeing to disagree.

Even if all yec's were to hold their tongues on this forum, and not speak against the tes and oecs, they would still post about yecs being horrible. Is that an objective of one who wants to agree to disagree? Is it the objective to agree to disagree when they tell you are of the devil because of your belief, yet you tell them you have agreed to disagree?

I know your heart is reaching out, hoping to mend and keep solidarity with those who believe differently on this. But many of them don't care that you have agreed to disagree, they want yec gone, period.

Maybe some time away from here and back to that nice forum where you are also a member of, where like minded people talk?

You have acted rightly upon your heart, 1denomination, and you have now seen the true objective of those who first asked you to agree to disagree. You know it is much more than just that. Again, I apologize for how those people treated you when you tried to mend the fence with them.

Hi One-D
I must say I havn't seen the replies you are talking about, but I don't doubt it. I have a pitifly small amount of time that I can spend reading and posting on this forum. So I just read and reply to whatever seems most important, or if I think I can contribute. I think it's a breath of fresh air to hear a YEC say that he would "gladly offer them the TE/OEC solution" for an unbeliever who finds YEC unacceptible. I appologize on behlf of TE in general for any offence caused those replies. The responses you recieved sound like typical TE positions and might be appropriately directed at YEC leadership, but not at you. I think there is a world of difference between the rank-and-file YEC who is told by someone in authority that scientific evidence supports YEC, and the person in authority who teaches this. The typical church member, who has not had any science beyond high school, is in a very difficult position, and I have tremendous sympathy for them. They have someone with a Ph.D telling them that evolution is fact, and someone else with a Ph.D telling them that evolution is a lie and it is anti-biblical. I am very good friends with people whose beliefs on origins span the continuum from YEC to TE. But I don't have this same sympathy for people like Duane Gish, Steve Austin, Walt Brown, and most of the YEC leadership. These people should know better, and they have no excuse. They disiminate deliberately misleading information and in some cases bald-faced lies.

You will note that my response to your comment in the other forum was entirely positive and encouraging. I find the reactions from the others as detrimental to positive movement on this issue as the position by people like SBG, mhess and others on this forum. You and I are on the same page regarding the general approach to this issue, even if we believe entirely different on the details.

Now you know how I feel when I try to make calls for unity and get the responses I do from YEC's.
