  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hey, just wondering what texts you used when sharing the Gospel. Though I sometimes go through a series (beginning with Romans 3:23), I also really like to share John 10 and then answer questions from there. I think John 10 is effective because it focuses more on being a part of the fold because of God's love instead of being all about works, but that's just me.

Also, how does God lead you about it? Usually I lead in with a, "You want to hear about how Jesus changes lives?"

Then, after you share the Gospel, how do you usually follow up with discipleship?

There are so many passages you can use. I suppose it depends on the person. For some, you may have to go through the entire story of Christ!

It depends on lots of items. I have a friend who became open to the Gospel after we discussed a study I had shown him that made clear that it was biblical to drink beer and wine(in moderation of course). He had been raised in a church they taught it was a sin the drink. This subject caught his attention and we were able to move on to Christ and the Gospel after that.

I know another individual who was had his eyes for the Gospel opened through the abortion issue.

Our God is the God of that is, we must meet the individual where God has placed him/her.

I hope that helps.

Coram Deo,
Kenith

I usually start here:

Isaiah 53:1-12
(1) Who has believed our message? and to whom has the arm of Yahweh been revealed?
(2) For he grew up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he has no form nor comeliness; and when we see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.
(3) He was despised, and rejected by men; a man of suffering, and acquainted with disease: and as one from whom men hide their face he was despised; and we didn't respect him.
(4) Surely he has borne our sickness, and carried our suffering; yet we considered him plagued, struck by God, and afflicted.
(5) But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was on him; and with his stripes we are healed.
(6) All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned everyone to his own way; and Yahweh has laid on him the iniquity of us all.
(7) He was oppressed, yet when he was afflicted he didn't open his mouth; as a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and as a sheep that before its shearers is mute, so he didn't open his mouth.
(8) By oppression and judgment he was taken away; and as for his generation, who among them considered that he was cut off out of the land of the living for the disobedience of my people to whom the stroke was due?
(9) They made his grave with the wicked, and with a rich man in his death; although he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.
(10) Yet it pleased Yahweh to bruise him; he has put him to grief: when you shall make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of Yahweh shall prosper in his hand.
(11) He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by the knowledge of himself shall my righteous servant justify many; and he shall bear their iniquities.
(12) Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he poured out his soul to death, and was numbered with the transgressors: yet he bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.
