I was taught Catholics can only receive communion in the Catholic Church.If you receive the Eucharist, you are receiving the Body and Blood of Jesus, who is God in the flesh. Many Protestants do not believe this, however, and frankly, if receiving the Body and Blood is important to you, I wouldn't take what they often call communion in their church, because you are not in communion with them.
Under extenuating circumstances we can at Orthodox churches, if they will allow it. They can receive at Catholic churches under extenuating circumstances as well, unless they are forbidden to do so by the Orthodox authorities.I was taught Catholics can only receive communion in the Catholic Church.

Basically other than that it is an issue of whether a person is 'in communion' with the Catholic Church, definitely including agreeing with Catholic teaching on the Eucharist. The Orthodox substantially do. But if others agree with Catholic teaching (doctrines) they would either already be Catholic or on their way to becoming Catholic. So those who are not on the way are in some way or other dissenters from Catholic teaching, probably dissenters even about the Eucharist they seek. We're just reminding them that taking communion says we are in communion. By taking communion with us they say they agree with Catholic doctrines. Do they honestly?
When we take communion at some other kind of religious community we are saying we agree with them. Do we?

Yes. The Eucharist IS God indeed.
Yikes!Last Saturday was the first time I saw a parishioner accidentally drop the Eucharist on the floor. Another time a EM tripped going down some steps and dropped the Precious Blood on the carpet.
When I was going back and forth between Catholicism and Lutheranism, I went to Confession to confess that I took Communion at the Lutheran church. I was told by the priest that it was okay to visit their church but not to take Communion.I don’t know if my professor was wrong to do this.
She (a Catholic) received Communion at an Anglican wedding because she didn’t want to cause division or something.

Aw! I have been an EMHC in Church and that was my worst nightmare. I stopped doing it in the context of the Mass eventually and moved on to bringing it to those that cannot attend. I found it a much better fit.I think she was really embarassed. She’d fallen on the floor too but she was ok.
At least my church has handrails to go up and down to the altar. The Lutheran church I used to go to has about three or four carpeted steps with no handrails. I always thought that if I would go up there, I’d fall. But only men hand out Communion there, not women.Aw! I have been an EMHC in Church and that was my worst nightmare.
