I have a question. I have been a Christian for about three years now, and I pretty much consider myself non-denominational. When I was in Afghanistan, someone sent me The Book Of Common Prayer. I visited an episcopalian church and I really liked it. I just have a question about the episcopalian denomination when it comes to their views on homosexuality. I'm not trying to offend anyone, if this isn't the case.. I really don't know and I am looking to learn. I know that some episcopalians accept it, but is it accepted overall in the episcopalian denomination?

Wasn't sure I could answer, but it's after Easter so I guess the moratorium on discussing homosexuality in this forum has expired.

Officially, The Episcopal Church (TEC) has no problem with it, if electing openly gay bishops is a clue.

But there is some diversity of opinion within the church on that. Some are in favor of it (I am), some are strongly opposed (and some have left over it, usually to a more conservative Anglican parish), and some don't much care.

Yes, it is. And more than acceptance, many parishes advertise that they are welcoming and affirming. You may know that the Anglican Church in North America uses the same Prayer Book and organized itself in 2010 as an alternative to The Episcopal Church, specifically because of this issue.

I am not sure I can answer this question as the moratorium on the entire subject here has yet to be rescinded officially by staff.

This about covers it:

Celebrant: Will you strive for justice and peace among all people, and respect the dignity of every human being?

People: I will, with God's help.

I will partake from the common cup with anyone that can proclaim to the glory of the Father that Jesus Christ is Lord.
