MATTHEW 6:9-13 (NKJV)
In this manner therefore pray: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Your kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. and do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. for Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

A good passage to memorize... And it's always good to at least know the general parts before and after it too.
Here's some more.
  1. With all [Phil 4:6] prayer and petition [Luke 18:1; Col 1:3; 4:2; 1 Thess 5:17] pray at all times [Rom 8:26] in the Spirit, and with this in view, [Mark 13:33] be on the alert with all [Acts 1:14] perseverance and [1 Tim 2:1] petition for all the saints,
Ephesians 6:17-19 (in Context) Ephesians 6 (Whole Chapter)
  2. Philippians 1:4
always offering prayer with joy in [Rom 1:9] my every prayer for you all,
Philippians 1:3-5 (in Context) Philippians 1 (Whole Chapter)
  3. Philippians 4:6
[Matt 6:25] Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by [Eph 6:18; 1 Tim 2:1; 5:5] prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
Philippians 4:5-7 (in Context) Philippians 4 (Whole Chapter)
  4. Colossians 4:2
    [Acts 1:14; Eph 6:18] Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving;
Colossians 4:1-3 (in Context) Colossians 4 (Whole Chapter)
  5. 1 Timothy 2:1
[ A Call to Prayer ] First of all, then, I urge that [Eph 6:18] entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men,

well,
we do need to ask forgivness for our sins, all through the bible people ask forgiveness, and Jesus clearly said a part of prayer is asking for forgiveness.

whether osas is true or not...

i dont think there is much to worry about when it comes to the order of your prayers.
becuase prayer is not a formula, its not like spell casting, you dont put it together perfectly and correctly to get a potion, it isnt vain repetition or being tedious with your words, your words dont change anything, its the spirit behind your words. God, who looks beneath the seams to the heart, is looking for the cry of your heart and your sincerety. if prayer was something that was as dry and simple as repeated memorised prayers, anyone could get anything from from God no matter the condition of the heart. but God said our prayers arent answered becuase we seek to consume it on our own lusts.
so be free in prayer. God is looking at the heart.

i believe the important thing to remember is that God gave us PRINCIPLES of prayer, not formulas. memorising a prayer wont do you any good.
knowing the principles will.
the Lords prayer is not a set thing we need to repeat. it only teaches us principles, like worship, adoration, petition etc. like the original post shows.

and i believe 2 of the greatest principles of prayer are

1. we enter into his courts with thanksgiving in our hearts.
worship and praise need to go up first.
this isnt legalism, but all through the bible you see example after example of this being done and taught.

2. the letter kills but the spirit brings life.
allow yourself to be led by the spirit of God when you pray, dont just try to repeat something. it is the spirit of God that changes life and brings your prayer time to life. the bible calls it praying in the spirit, its how christians ought to pray.
its not by might, nor by power but by my spirit, sayeth the Lord.

I agree with ALL of you! There are NO formulas for prayer, it is a humble attitude of the heart. But the components that JESUS taught us are certainly key parts of my prayer times. The order may change, and there I times I may not even get past worship. It all depends on how the HOLY SPIRIT leads.

Now, if I could really pray like JESUS..........

  1. YOU ADDED MY FAVORITE SCRIPTURES! !!
this wasn't meant to be a debate. God hears all prayers. All manner of prayers from our heart to God are important to Him and our spiritaul health. i put this because some people have a difficult time praying. elements to prayer was simply pointing out why we were told to pray in this manner. even in the Bible it was an example of how we should pray. i was picking out the whys. ............... this is the deeper devotion section...
keep praising God through sharing praises and prayers! love dee
