  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Either way, Trinity is Pagan.

What is the Messiah supposed to accomplish? The Bible says that he will:

A. Build the Third Temple (Ezekiel 37:26-28).

B. Gather all Jews back to the Land of Israel (Isaiah 43:5-6).

C. Usher in an era of world peace, and end all hatred, oppression, suffering and disease. As it says: "Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall man learn war anymore." (Isaiah 2:4)

D. Spread universal knowledge of the God of Israel - uniting the entire human race as one. As it says: "God will be King over all the world -- on that day, God will be One and His Name will be One" (Zechariah 14:9).

A-Millenialism
Amillenialism, in which the Church stands in Proxy of Christ, is the belief that the 1000 year reign or millenial reign of Christ and his Saints; is to be seen as metaphor, or spiritualized where, depending on the brand of Amillenialism one may have a literal 1000 year reign with the Church as the governing agent, or an 'era' of time in which the Church representing Christ on earth reigns (sometimes seen as from literal Jerusalem sometimes as 'spiritualised" Jerusalem but where no literal return of Christ in physical form occurs. There are 'newer' forms of Amillenialism in which the Church reigns in preparation of the return, and the return is seen in a variety of ways. Among Churches espousing a form or type of Amillenialism are: United Methodist; United Presbyterian USA, Roman Catholicism, some more Liberal Evangelical and Assembly of God theologians espouse the view; and among those with new brands are 'dominion theologians' and some 'replacement' theologians.

Pre-Millenialism
Pre-Millenialism, most firmly held by Evangelical, Baptist, some Pentecostal and other Fundamentalists is the belief that Jesus Christ, in His Full Person and Godhead, will literally, as he covenanted with Israel return as he left(Matthew xxx); Visibly and on the clouds, to rule and reign. A literal interpretation of the Scriptures is expounded and a hopeful watch for a real Messiah is taught.

Post-Millenialism
Post-Millenialism is the most unusual of the positions. Post-Millenialists interpret the 1000 year reign of Christ as having already occurred in the past. It is similar to Amillenialism in that it sees a Church age, a church in proxy of Christ as fulfilling scripture. It differs significantly in the belief that the 1000 year reign of Christ, promised in peace and prosperity with Christ ruling with a rod of Iron, already occurred, following the early church period, with Christ reigning figuratively. The difficulty many have with this position is that the descriptions of the Millenial Reign do not fit with historical descriptions: there has been no place in history where for a thousand years, world peace was established, with no sorrow, pain or trouble, or where 'the wolf lies down with the lamb' or children play on asps nests. Even if one takes these passages broadly and metaphorically, the Thousand years following Christ's death were bloody with massacres, persecutions, false church systems and brutality. While the Roman Catholic Church growing out of the Holy Roman Empire did reign, the corruption was so massive that it could hardly be described as reigning metaphorically as Christ. Secondly, the events described in the Bible detail Satan as being bound, not just restrained but removed from power during the Millenium. If anything, the opposite was true.

I got that from a website... this is another of their pages, about A-Millenialism... http://www.shoaheducation.com/amillenialism.html

Which Millenial Reign is it?

I never got into reading about this stuff, mainly because I did not care. We will reign with Christ. Exactly when? Who really cares. It is the event that is key. I'm sure that if God told us, we would mess it up by stop living in faith as we are supposed to. I can just imagine a group of Christians hovering around the TV wainting for "The Comming of Christ" on PPV.

I am certain of one thing though: Christ will not let His sheep suffer through any of this. He will guard us; for we have already suffered as we bear the cross daily as part of our identity with Him.
