charlotte, that would depend on what church the individual Christian attends, or even the individual Christian themselves. Some Christian's consider easter to be pagan religion mixed with the resurrection of Jesus and therefore don't celebrate at all. Some don't care a lick about the pagan aspects, and decorate eggs and the whole gamut.

Our church has an Easter program (drama/choir) similar to Christmas programs every year. This program is free and very popular in the community in which I live, and is an outreach ministry. On Easter most churches have a special service, some even have sunrise services. Lots of people that never attend church the rest of the year will come and will pack the church out, LOL.

Yes...it depends on the church as to how Easter is celebrated. And even churches within a particular denomination have their own way of celebrating.

I guess a few things that everyone would have in common would be reading from one of the Gospels about Jesus' resurrection. And then the message (ie sermon) would be based on that. Lots of happy hymns sung too.

churches celebrating a "pagan" holiday, hmmm Whats even worse is "churches" celebrating a holiday of "hades" (land of the dead in Greek worship) we call "halloween" and teaching our children its "fun" and "ok" and anyone who doesn't celebrate is "weird". And yet the churches teach "we love Jesus" and yet break the laws and celebrate the holidays of his enemies.

That's a pretty judgemental statement considering you can't possibly know how every Christian celebrates holidays. And either way, it's not really important. Regardless of whether these holidays are originally steeped in paganism, some Christian from way back decided that they'd start celebrating Christ on these holidays. I'm glad it stuck because I enjoy these holidays and I enjoy Jesus being the focus of most of them now.

Halloween of course is the big taboo. I don't have much issue with it personally. I dress my daughter up and visit my neighbors. Big whoop. Then we usually head to the Fall Festival at my church.

Holidays are just things. They aren't good or bad. What you do with them is what's considered good or bad.

Not to get off the original topic of Easter...but I do want to say that I really like this!  And it's very true too.
