  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What are your feeling about dying??? I know that most of us here are scared of dying especially when you're still young.
I do scared of dying.. and on the other hand, I'm not. I asked many kind of people.. muslims, Christians, Hindus, and Buddist.. many kind of story.. some believe that they can live again on earth if they do good..
But, as a christian, we know that it could not be happen. We will live in heaven with God and stay with Him forever.. awesome..
So what are you guys thinking about???
Lets thread it out..

In a way (I don't want this to make me sound sucidal, cuz I'm not ) I look forward to death. I look forward to it with the hope that I will see my Lord and He will say "Mike, nicely done. Welcome home." I try to live my life every day with that goal in mind.

This is how I feel about death. I think I'm more frightened about the way I will die, rather than dying itself.

I can't wait! I know it will come at God's perfect time- I go to Mass everyday, and confess every week- I feel like any time would be fine- there'll probably be purgatory time involved - but perhaps my fellow OBOB'ers could pray me outta there! I know my babies would miss me- but I also know that God wouldn't allow it if it weren't what was perfect in their lives.

Much how I feel. Wonder if that changes as it closes in on you? I hope not. That's why I'm wearing that scapular!

If you are able to, at your hour of death offer your death up to God freely as your last and final act of love and sacrifice. If this is done sincerely it is said that you die in a grace similar to that of the martyrs, and thus you fly straightaway into Heaven, avoiding purgatory.

Honestly, I fear my final judgement. It'd be great to say I'm excited to go to Heaven, but there's no way I can be positive. If I don't get sent to Hell, I'll have to spend quite a bit of time in Purgatory.

All we can do, bro, is trust in God's mercy and do our best to grow in holiness now while we have time. There's a big spot in purgatory with my name on it as it stands now. Hopefully when my time comes, it will remain unoccupied

Wow..you know I've had that thought go through my head quite a few times, this is the first time I've seen someone write it. I've always thought, when I die I'm going to offer my death up as a sacrifice for conversion of sinners etc.

"Of all human evils death is the most grievous, by which human life is destroyed...". -- St. Thomas Aquinas, Compendium theologiae, lib. 1 cap. 227

John 11:17-35 "Then when Jesus came, he found that he [Lazarus] had lain in the grave four days already...Then when Mary was come where Jesus was, and saw him, she fell down at his feet, saying unto him, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died. When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled. And said, Where have ye laid him? They said unto him, Lord, come and see. Jesus wept."

This is a MOST effecacious practice!

ETERNAL FATHER, I offer You the Sacred Heart of Jesus, with all its love, all its sufferings and all its merits.
First: To expiate all the sins I have commited this day and during all my life. Glory be to the Father, etc.
Second: To purify the good I have done poorly this day and during all my life. Glory be to the Father, etc.
Third: To supply for the good I ought to have done, and that I have neglected this day and all my life. Glory be to the Father, etc.

HISTORY: Soon after the death of a certain Poor Clare nun, she appeared to her abbess, who was praying for her, and said: "I went striaght to Heaven because I paid all my debts by virtue of this prayer."

Taken from the book- "Prayers and Heavenly Promises. Complied from Approved Sources" by Joan Carroll Cruz and available from TAN books.

my Grandmother will be 98 years old this year.so a person never knows when the
Lord will call us home.I think one thing is I love my Husband and son,and just dont
want any thing to change, but then I love our Lord God even More, and I leave it all
up to him because my life is his.God Bless.

Personally, by grace, God grant us the serenity to do what He wants us to do and to fulfill what God may call us to fulfill. We must trust in God's promises and have faith in God's love and goodness and forgiveness.

I think Purgatory is probably where I'll be spending a lot of time.... I need to take a real long shower in God's sanctifying grace.

God's Peace,

D'Ann

I don't know guys... but, as I know that most of the people that knew that they are going to die because of sickness and they have given up hope... God gave us hope so that we will be able to stand up and do good as long as we're alive.. I wish I can share the word of God with those people and let them realise that God is waiting for them and that they shall not be afraid but rejoice... and so do their family...
