  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I haven't seen these guys talked about on here.

For those of you who don't know, the lead singer of the Smoking Popes became a Christian after reading Mere Christianity a few years ago. After his conversion he started Duvall. The lyrics are really honest. The music has some of the rock n' roll meets pop-punk sound of the Popes (and the same rockin' guitar parts), and Josh's voice is amazing -- smooth crooning, with little touches of vibrato.

Anyway, maybe some of you have beheld the awesomeness that is Duvall. But for those of you that haven't, you should check them out.

Here's a link to an interview I did with Josh:

and here's a link to my review of their Christmas album:

and a link to their website where you can listen to some of their songs. And they are worth the listen if you like rock or pop-punk or just fun music in general:

I was wondering how their Cornerstone show went. Josh's brother Eli, who played bass, left the band, so I think Cornerstone was the first show with a new bass player.

They are an incredibly tight band. Josh pulls off all of the guitar solos and some additional improv stuff flawlessly live, while managing to sing on perfect pitch. Their set and Josh's solo acoustic set were two of my favorite shows at C-stone last year.

Wow, Phil.
I'm excited for school now!
But I'm still not excited about reading that book they sent us!
Or doing the writing assignment.
I'm thinking about reading it before I leave, then typing up the assignment on the drive out there.
I really hate summer homework.

Yeah. Not fun.

Although a friend of mine, who hates to read, said that the book was good, which means that it is probably pretty interesting.
