  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hey clairabelle

I do not believe that free music downloading services that are legal exist. I do know you can buy music from Itunes, I think is like a dollar a song. seems like a lot. but when you only like one song from a group, its better than buying the whole cd, you know?
I think the laws on downloading music is simple, its illegal. Unless it is a service where you pay.

From what I understand, if the artist didn't offer the song for download or explicitly agree to allow its download, it's not legal to download it. It stinks that more artists don't allow downloads, because I found a lot of great music of P2P downloading and ended up growing my CD collection (legally) quite a bit because of it.

BTW--Amazon.com has a lot of good free downloads.

I've bought a couple of songs off Wal Mart's music download service, but if there's 2 or 3 good songs on the CD and it's not a really high-demand CD, you can usually get a copy for $3 or $4 off half.com or used off Amazon. Pawn shops and used CD stores are also good places to grow a collection. I hardly ever buy a new CD anymore.

It's a little bit of a longshot in finding the music you are looking for, but, Amazon.com has some good free downloads. I don't believe they offer a list of all the free songs available, but they show you some. I just happened upon the Jimmy Eat World and Local H downloads which were pretty good.
