Does God understand cutting?

lifewanderer, I think God is sad when you cut, because He loves you. Just like any other parent, He does not want to see you hurt.

God is the MOST understanding. He understands why you do the things you or we all do. I do not believe God gets angry...saddened but not mad. He is a loving God!!!
What is the reason why you do this? (not necessarily a question you need to answer to me, but to yourself). God knows why but do you?

Thats a really deep question,
I struggle with the idea too.
like the other guys said, i think He does understand
coz He knows us inside & out.
I'm not sure, but i think He'd be more hurt that we're hurting so bad
not angery. but in for me, i think that hurts more then Him being mad.
i can deal with people being mad @ me & hating me, I can deal with hurting someone

I reckon that God understands it more than we could believe because of Jesus, when he took all our sin on the cross he also took all our pain, shame, guilt etc he felt how you feel when you want to self harm and how could anyone who has felt those feelings not understand what it's like for others...

I think he does because he has a understanding of all things.

I don't believe he gets mad or angry when we do it, I think he gets sad that we are hurting so much and he wants to take it away from us.

Thanks for asking the question; it has helped me too reading the answers. I think God understands and is full of compassion. He know why we SI, and the reasons behind it, even if we don't.

Cutting is not God's way to punish, I think.

I think when we cut, we're letting Satan get too close. It's what I believe though.

I believe that God forgives me for my SI-addiction and that He knows what and why I do what I do and that He knows it's Satan getting the best of us.

I think he does, I really do. that doesn't mean he approves... but he is our Heavenly Father who loves us so much, who KNOWS us, and UNDERSTANDS us.

I know God does. I don't. I tried it when the schtuff got piled to high, job, kids, wife, my addictions. Didn't help me.

I think like any coping mechanism, you can get addicted to it, and it must be treated as an addiction.

You know after all, overeating, booze, pills, weed, overexercise, anorexia, bulimia, sexual addiction, smoking and many others are ways to distract us from our pain. And they are all destructive and can be deadly. Cutting can get you a major infections, septicemia or even open you up to MRSA or the flesh eating variant.

The Life Recovery Bible has the various different 12 steps process in it and some great commentary in it. I strongly encourage all folks with problems to get it.

I think He understands and is saddened by it. I think He is even more saddened by the reasons that people cut........... usually deep pain.

The Bible talks about God being "omniscient" or "all-knowing." He knows how many hairs are on your head, and knows all of His children by name. He created and formed our innermost parts (Psalm 139). So He knows everything about us, including our feelings. So God knows our feelings, and He understands why people cut themselves, because they feel so overwhelmed or hopeless inside. And it really grieves Him... When I finally said no to self-injury, it took all the strength I had... God held me in His arms and cried with me and sang over me; He gave me a new song... Because He feels our pain and His tears heal and comfort us... The Bible says in James, "No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide a way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it." James 10:13 My escape was in renewing my mind. I filled my mind with scriptures, memorized them and meditated on them, casting down those thoughts of worthlessness I have, feelings of unforgiveness, and thoughts that life would never get better then this... and God gave me life... a life I could have never imagined. A life without self-injury, but with unhindered joy... and when we choose life, then we don't grieve God anymore but bless the omnipotent, omniscient, self-sufficient, full of grace, full of mercy, just, righteous, pure, and lovely all Mighty God.

I believe God sees our pain, and is hurt by it. I don't think he is angry at us, but I think He wants to help us overcome it.
