I really enjoy reading about history. Mostly the Civil War though. I have been able to find out that I had ansestors that were on both side of the Civil War.

I love learning about the Civil War too! Have you ever been to a battle ground? I have been to Gettysburg which was VERY interesting!

I also love history, particularly during colonial times. Colonial Williamsburg and Mount Vernon among many other places are my favorite places to go. I particularly like learning about wars, WWII and the civil war in particular.

The only battle field that I have been able to get to is the one in Pilot Knob Missouri. Every two years they have a reenactment. Through some of my research I learned that I had distent relatives that fought there. Have you read about any of the bushwhackers that were around during the Civil war. We had one it the southern part of Missouri. He was call Sam Hildabrandt (I think t hat is the way it was spelled)

Have you read Battle Cry of Freedom?

No I have not. But I will try to get to it. Most of what I have read about the Civil War so far pertanes to the Missouri area and the serounding states. I have gotten copyies of one of my ansesters that was on the Confederate side that was in a St. Louis Prison. Telling about his capture and letters that he wrote him. Very intersting stuff.

I had also learned of distant relatives that were in the Colonial war. I haven't been able to learn much about where he fought though. He was is the service for two terms and was pay to take someone else place in t he second term.
