Do "works" matter?

"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.

Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?'

Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'

Hmm, prophesying, driving out demons, performing miracles...

Those are WORKS aren't they?

Doesn't sound like ackonwledging Christ as Lord is enough to save you...but neither is doing works enough to save you.

So there must be something else involved with salvation.

Like FAITH maybe? Faith demonstrated by actions and obedience if you can believe the, "only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven" part.

??  What's wrong with that?  LL has kept with the discussion and has repeated herself over and over again, with respect and patience which I admire.  There's no reason to roll your eyes at me.  

If I congratulate her on her patience, is that not edifying?  Are we here to only debate and argue?  No.  We're here to edify the body of Christ also, in which both LL, you, me and others are included.  Lighten' up a little Souljah and have some fun fellowship.

Back to the originally scheduled program.......

When I trusted The Lord Jesus Christ as my personal Saviour I " put on Christ"....(Galatians 3:27) For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

When I trusted The Lord Jesus Christ as my Saviour I was given a blessed hope of Christ's returning....(Titus 2:13) Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

Without works.

Don't be so hard on yourself, souljah!

You're just learning the basics of faith, and a lot of people don't catch on very quickly. I think you ask good questions and that's the main thing.

The open-mindedness will come along as you begin to see God in the scriptures.

God loves us...all parts of us....He gave us salvation free...given to all men through Jesus....but He is also interested in our physical being....If you will do what He ask physically...doing the law...then I believe he will not only save us spiritually, but physically. As we all suspect, times will get hot here...we need Him to show us how to be protected. I know He will show us through, if we follow Him closely, will He not protect us as He did the 3 men in Daniel? Our works is our fruit...things that hang on a tree and can be seen. We all need to start at the front of the Bible and do what ever He says do. Let Him teach and we follow Him and no man. Let His word grow in us and on us...May He be with us all
