Do we need prophets?

Do we need prophets.. might as well ask do we need apostles. Jesus said in the last days many false prophets will come. Many not all will be false. So right there you see there will be prophets from God. In Pauls day.. Jesus already died and rose PRAISE GOD GLORY TO JESUS! When a prophet told Paul what would happen to the man waring that belt. So seems GOD called some one in Pauls day to be a prophet.

Is it not written "And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;" For me to think the WORD of God is enough and we don't need prophets would be going against the word of God. He gave Apostles and Prophets.. right there its written. YES we need them. Why? Today how many "hear from God"? Yeah so much confusion. The prophet gets tossed out for some dream vision by some no name believer. That is not how God has ever worked.

I wonder if some think its like we need a prophet but God doesn't tell them first God just tells anyone. Thats not whats written. Maybe the part of the OT where God tells the prophet first is dead gone or its still truth today?

I think the early church would be utterly appalled at todays rejection of the prophetic ministry.

Well said.
It is often claimed that there have been no prophets since the death of the last apostle, until of course they were reinvented by recent false teaching!
That being the case, then the divisions denominations and heresies that have arisen in the last 2000 years, must be entirely the responsibility of the pastors and teachers alone

Amos3v7Surely the Lord GOD does nothing, Unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets.
This is equally applicable today as when it was written!
