YES!!!!
But Satan loves to exploit christians.
He loves it.
The Flesh, The Word, and Satan truly work together to exploit a christian and do many things to work against them. One key to remember is that Jesus told us not to leave this world but to separate ourselves from it and walk in the light.
We all want to do that, if we set our minds on Christ, but at times, many things get in the way.
Old sin-nature lingers.
Satan always tries to disrupt the process of a christian going from carnal to spiritual and make christian hypocrites.
One thing that I notice I had trouble with is putting my old passions and desires behind me even when I had to set my mind on Christ.
But despite how many times one may sin despite setting their minds on Christ and doing the very things they don't want to do, knowing they may be wrong, Jesus can't deny himself and will always remain faithful and wait for you to truly repent and walk in the Spirit with him.
The word "submit" is in the past tense in the Greek. The same as in Rom 6:13 for "yield" unto God. That means it is not something that you do and then do it again each time you are tempted. It is a one time event that was to occur when you became born again...and that's all! The same thing is to be said about the word "resist" in James 4:7. This is a past tense verb and it means to take a stand against. You should have taken a stand against the devil when you submitted your life to God when you where born again.Well I shouldn't say surrender only when tempted. Surrender at all times! Or as the Bible says, submit
"Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." James 4:3
And also:
"Pray without ceasing" I Thess 5:17
And also:
"Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice." Philippians 4:4

A different verb tense is in Rom 6:13 for "neither present your members unto sin..." this is in the present active imperative tense. This is where Christians miss it because we are to be continually resisting sins desires from being expressed by our bodies. We need to control what we see, touch, taste, smell, hear and do as a continual effort against. Christians continue to sin because they love to sin and will not obey what God says in Rom 6:12,13. If they obey what this says then that means they have to stop their sinning.
what do you mean?A lot of christians fail this. So then what shall we do?
You have a misunderstanding of the word "struggle". To struggle means to fight violently against. How much blood have you lost struggling against sin? Let me guess...I bet not even a scratch, am I right? What you need to do is first accept the idea that you have not really struggled yet to resist sinning. When you go at it with that kind of will and determination to " ...do not give into sins desires..." and "...do not let sin..." (Rom 6:12) then you will stop sinning.I know several reborn christians that still have faith in Jesus and go to church but have fallen away a bit in their relationship to Him, not being as devoted as they were before, but not to the point of rejecting him in their lives.
While others, like myself, who believe to be reborn christians and have the Holy Spirit, struggled with old sin nature and passions and desires in our lives.
So.....you can see I am very disturbed by what I saw. I don't want to do anything what I've been doing anymore....even though I've struggled since the beginning to completely put some old passions and desires behind me. I truly don't want to do what I've been doing anymore....
So you can see....why I'm disturbed....
I doubt you have since you are here discussing the issue.I am afraid that I have recrucified myself to him and put Jesus to shame...
I got married when I was 23.I've been a hypocrite lately. The other day I had forplay with my girlfriend knowing it was wrong and now I don't ever want to do that again until I get married....
This wasn't the first time.
I also consider myself reborn.....
But after reading 2 Peter 2:20, I really....really....don't want to do what I was doing before............
I truly.....truly want to change my ways.....I feel a pain in my heart like I haven't felt before......
I'm feel Spiritually sick....
Hebrews 5:14 (NLT)Well....I was baptised as a child....willingly went to church first time at age 16....didn't really get settled...but truly begun to read the bible last year and really get to know God and Jesus....but lacked the resistance I should have had against old sin nature and keep on asking forgiveness for the same things I have had a problem with putting behind me for the last 6 months....even though I felt God's discipline taking things away from me and speaking to me though his word.....it's been a cycle: "Lord, please forgive me for doing _______" and then I feel better....then four days later....I tend to do the same things....
I feel like a wretched person.....
It's ironic. I consider myself to be reborn and have the Holy Spirit, but have given in to my old sin nature ever since I became aware that it wasn't good....
Hebrews 5:14 (NLT)
Solid food is for those who are mature, who have trained themselves to recognize the difference between right and wrong and then do what is right.
That word "trained" is gumnazo and is where we get our word for gymnasium. It takes blood, sweat and tear effort to stop yourself from sinning just like pumping iron. You can't lay around crying about it you have RESIST it when the evil hour comes and then it goes away. You will be stronger for the next round and it will be easier to resist sinning. But if you give into it then it becomes stronger. You have to resist (push against it) as though you were in the gym and sin is the weight or the sparring partner.
But if you give into it then it becomes stronger.
Romans 6:16 (NLT)Yes. I notice this quite a lot. When I've resisted and gave it....I felt worse and had a harder time....and felt more bitter than I did before.....and less love that i had before.....and it overall affected me in the Spirit in general.....
