Digital Cameras

I just spent something like 3 months trying to figure that all out, so I'll pass on what knowledge I gained...

Cameras come in varying megapixels, usualy at: 2mp, 3mp, 4mp, 5mp. This refers to the resolution (i think...) or how pixelated your images will be. The higher the #, the better and the more expensive. I would first decide what your megapixel # needs to be and that will start to narrow your search. If you're just using it for fun, 2-3, 3-4 for things that need good res. (I post my artwork on the web, so I need it to be pretty good.), 5 is the best quality.

That's the first and most major step. Then think about wether you want things like automatic and manual focus (some don't have a manual focus), user-friendly controls, size, weight, and of course, price.

Then, once you've narrowed it down a bit, I'd do some comparisons. There are some really helpfull websites that will do a much better job than I at explaning this. Try: imaging-resource.com (I think that's right....sorry) and dpreview.com

I've got a 2 megapixel Fuji Finepix camera - it doesn't have zoom, but other than that it's an awesome camera. I think you can get it for under $200. You can even record short movies without sound.

you can also buy electronics on Newegg.com. Make sure you looking for pixels are 2.0 or higher and have memory card. needs to be less confusing. and an Zoom on it also would help.
