For Adam, "believing" in God was not really "faith" because, yes, Adam had been in direct contact with God in the way you are in contact with people you talk to everyday.

This doesn't mean WE don't have free will to believe or not - WE are not Adam. Our experience is not his experience.

But even if we did see God in person as Adam did, we would still be free to choose whether or not to have a relationship with him. You don't have a relationship with EVERY person you've ever had contact with do you? Do don't agree with or like EVERY person you've ever had contact with, do you?

People saw Jesus and some of them chose to reject Him. Some of them even chose to kill Him.

Good question. The best way I can see to look at it is. Do you have faith in your close friends? Do you have faith in your dad? Essentially God was Adam's dad right? I've always seen faith as accepting what you can't see as being real. That said, I'm inclined to think that Adam didn't really need "faith" as we understand it. His love for God was just as real as your love for your dad. I hope that helps.
