I just used the coth terry towelling squares that you fold yourself. They are really cheap and easy to use once you have the "knack" I used them for 3 years on my son, I have thought about the shaped nappies, but couldn't really be bothered with it all. i just like the simplicity and ease of these square ones. You can use them for more than nappies as well. I use them as little towel to lie on for baby when I have to change her when I go out somewhere, when they are worn out they make great cleaning cloths, and also I use them to cover her lap when she is in her pram and I have to feed her. Basically even when we are out, I take a cloth nappy with us for these uses. (I use disposables at night and when we are out)

That's what I want to try next, with a cover. You use a cover right? I'm going to try the Bummi covers. Do you use those little T shaped attachers (forget the name)?

We used cloth with my son but they made his eczema (or psoriasis) worse and we switched to disposable which were so much better for his poor skin. My daughter has such terrible skin reactions that we've just done disposable from the get go and don't even want to go the cloth route with her.

Are you referring to the Snappis? I don't particularly like them to be honest. My husband prefers them and will not use a cloth nappy unless he has one. I prefer the pins, just a bit old fashioned I know, but I think they hold it better.

I use covers, I just use the cheap and nasty plastic covers. She hardly ever gets a rash, and if she does, I just use these acrylic knitted ones called fluffies.

I used disposables with my older 2 because we didn't have our own washer/dryer and I wasn't a full-time stay at home mom. I just switched to cloth diapers to save $. I wish I had done it earlier. I love it. Even my 2yo who is almost potty trained would rather wear the cloth diapers than a disposable for naps. The only time I use throw aways now is when we are going to be out all day and for bed-time at night.

That is interesting. My son has had less rashes/irritations since using cloth.

We also use just the cheap vinyl covers with no problems.

This is my experience also. At first we had more rashes, but that was actually due to using cloth wipes - I think a combination of the solution we were using and also not getting the wipes wet enough. Now we are using a different solution and making sure the wipes are really wet, and she doesn't get rashes.

My son's eczema/psoriasis in the diaper area was severe. It really looked like his diaper area had scales almost. He was in so much pain. The dermatologist told us to lose the cloth diapers and that helped more than anything in clearing it up. We bought really good disposables for him that really took all the wetness away from his skin. We had originally thought it was the soap and tried washing them a different way but he just needed to stay completely dry with frequent disposable diaper changes. We went through that for a good six months before we switched and just never even wanted to try with our daughter. We were so happy with the disposables.

I used cloth diapers for my son until he was nine months old then I switched to disposables. I didn't even start with cloth diapers for my daughter.

For me, cloth diapers were very time consuming and disposables are just easier and more convenient. That is my own opinion.
