I have to confess, I have a soft spot for the Virgin Mary.
nobody loves you like a mother does, and for me she is the Mother of Church.

what devotions do other Anglicans have towards our Lady?
for me I a lover of the Angelus.

Broadly speaking I do a whole range of devotions to the BVM but the one which perhaps means the most to me is a regular pilgrimage to the shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham. It's the UKs most significant Marian shrine and a wdonerful place.

I've never really thought that much about the Virgin Mary. But know that you mention it, I realise how important she was and I feel a sudden sense of pride. I've never done a devotion to her, but I will tonight. I will talk about her on my blog, I know that seems so small but it would be something.

I am a fan of the Rosary, I use both the Marian and the Anglican Rosary, I find the repetition soothing and prayerful.

it's it great that we exist in a church were we can be as Catholic as we like or as Protestant as we like. I just think it's so great

I'm a (very recent) former Methodist in a diocese that was historically very low church, and in a church that was historically low. While the Daily Office from the book of Common Prayer has been the core of my spirituality for a long time, and I prefer a liturgical style of worship and weekly Communion - that's why I converted- I have to say that things like the Rosary and other paraliturgical Marian devotions, and prayer to the saints generally, are not part of my spirituality. I don't think they're unlawful, they're just not part of the way I pray. I've tried them but don't like them. My priest recently gave me a little Anglo-Catholic devotional called the St. Augustine's Prayer Book, as part of preparation for arricular confession. While I found the section on confession extremely useful, and likewise the section on the Eucharist, I've found the sections on daily prayer less useful because they've got too much about Mary and the saints, and too much asking for intercessions from the Saints. My position is that asking for the prayers of the saints is lawful but never necessary since we can always go directly to God in prayer.

Are there other devotions to the BVM? I find the Rosary too long. Please direct me to a site where I can find other alternatives. I pray for the day where I can do the Rosary daily, but in the meantime I would love something shorter as there are those days when you simply cannot fit it into your day.
