Having a semblance of godliness but denying its power.
There's a strange version of Christianity that accepts Christ as Lord but denies His omnipotence. Such sub-religions or cults don't take the Bible literally. Instead, they interpret it in various ways. For example, some archeological excavations in 1996 and 2007 claimed to have found the ossuary or remains of Jesus. The reasoning they provided was that Jesus might have physically died but appeared as a spirit and ascended as such. However, scripture tells us that's a lie because the risen Christ had flesh and bones (Luke 24:39).
It's almost as if they are apologizing for God and suggesting that God couldn't do everything He said He would, but that's OK. These are also the people who suggest that God did not literally create the universe but allowed it to evolve and guided it along the way. Some attribute divinity to Christ but not omnipotence. They believe things such as miracles, divine healing, the resurrection of the dead, walking on water, and others are not in the Bible. The Bible should not be taken literally, for it's just a good book of fairy tales and morality. They don't believe that Moses lived to be 120 and should not be taken literally. They don't think there was ever a global flood, and if there were one, it only covered the inhabited world and not all the world.
Such thinking and theology have more in common with the world than the Bible. Such people also have trouble believing that God is both sovereign and omnipotent. Such are those that attribute divinity to Christ but deny His omnipotence. A saint should test the spirits and deny such heresy (1 John 4:1).
