I tried to use the search engine for this forum, but couldn't find any threads about it.
My friend whos denomination i don't know, said Catholics are not Christians, because they have a different belief in how Jesus died (i forgot the exact reason).
Well i always thought, Christian is someone, who believes that Jesus is God (well son of god, but also God...?)
And i'm pretty sure Catholics believe that Jesus is the son of God, and every Christian loves Jesus, so I don't think there should be this tension between the denominations.

But what are your opinions on it? What is your definition of "Christians"

The only thing that matters on the subject is what Jesus will have to say at the final Judgment. Some people hope to hear Him say "well done."

As noble as that sounds, my only hope is to find that His blood covers my all my sin. For all the so-called errors, disagreements etc etc, the whole Bible and Jesus' words all agree, that it DOES. Picture an umpire at home plate, simultaneously motioning and shouting "safe."

That's the Peace of G-d in your heart, and our decision maker.

Roman Catholics are Christian (not necessarily all are, in any denomination you'll find those who are not).

I agree that their shouldn't be the tension between the denominations like that, although over the past 50 years things have improved with a big sense of ecumenism taking place.

I agree with razeontherock that Jesus will have the final say about this, but as for now, my definition of Christian,

Christians are those who believe that God has revealed himself in Jesus Christ, accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour, live in communion with God and in the power of the Holy Spirit, and take their place in the fellowship of Christ's Church.

There are many other verses that tell us what means to follow jesus but i think thesae answer your question.

Catholics are Christians although admittedly not all are, but likewise not all Baptists are Christians either. A Christian is someone who has invited Christ into thir life.

As for Mormoms and Jehovahs Witnesses etc they certainly not classed as mainstream orthodox Trinitarian Christians - where they end up at the end of the day is God's decision, not ours.

Defining Christian isn't a very productive activity, and we are repeatedly warned against the dangers that go with trying to draw sharp lines and determine exactly who is in and who is out. The word itself was coined by non-Christians in Antioch and probably meant "the people who keep going on about this guy they call the oily-one until we are fed up to the back teeth with it".

Catholics are as much Christians as any other group, but a lot of non-Catholics have a very distorted picture of what Catholicism is. I.e. what they object to is what they think Catholicism says, which is often very, very, different to what it actually says.

Catholics and Protestants agree on how Jesus died. However, some Catholics erroneously believe that what Jesus did for us is not sufficient. This is in contradiction to the Scriptures, which clearly teach otherwise.

A good simple definition of a christian is simply someone who has a relationship with God through Jesus
