Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may know the things freely given to us by God, 13 which things we also speak, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, combining spiritual thoughts with spiritual words. 14 But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised. 15 But he who is spiritual appraises all things, yet he himself is appraised by no one. 16 For WHO HAS KNOWN THE MIND OF THE LORD, THAT HE WILL INSTRUCT HIM ? But we have the mind of Christ.

I don't know that I would use the word "extremist" as an indictment. There is righteousness and there is lawlessness. If you are extremely righteous, does that make you and "extremist"? And is that bad? I wouldn't say so. Either we are following the lead of the Holy Spirit or we are not. If we are following His lead, then can we do it to such an "extreme" that we're in the wrong? I don't think so. Now there are people who some might call "extreme" who are just plain in the flesh - go to any large Charismatic gathering, and you'll see some of that, sorry to say. But would I use the word "extreme" to characterize fleshly behavior? hyper-emotionalism? a lack of self-control? No. I would simply discern that these people are in the flesh, and would do my darndest to ignore them - because they amount to exactly nothing in the spiritual realm as long as they act that way. "Extremist" is a term used by worldly people to cover any behavior they don't understand. Let's not borrow their terminology.
