Currently i believe in creationism and have always rejected evolution. I am wondering about is it reasonable to believe in creation and evolution at the same time. Let me explain, Genesis doesn't explain how God created all things it just says that he created everything. What if God created humans with the use of evolution? Wouldn't this be possible and not contradicting to any thing else in the Bible? Tell me what you think about this idea, and how i should look at the situation. Thank you, and may the Lord be with you!

Well, the Bible tells us that God created man out of the dust of the earth with His own hands. He then breathed His Spirit (divine essence) into man and he became a being not unlike God.

Which part of that story sounds like evolution?

All of it, if you allow God millions of years to do the creating, and don't count the part about "hands" which doesn't appear in the Bible.

Cheers

Not sure how you can form something without touching it, but whatever.

"He then breathed His Spirit (divine essence) into man and he became a being not unlike God."

How again, does this statement have anything to do with evolution exactly?

Which part of Darwin's theory would this apply?

Don't forget how the idea of God being a potter making us from clay is a common metaphor in the bible. The word 'formed' in Genesis 2 is even the same word as potter. Yet Genesis 2 is the only place people take this picture of God as a potter literally. Breathing into Adam's nostrils is another matter. The choices are either this refers to a distinct part of the human make up, soul or spirit, that God had specifically given to human beings, but then it doesn't really have anything to do with evolution. We are evolved hominids and this was the first pentecost when God gave humans something of his divine being they did not have before. Or it could be part of the metaphor of the potter and is Genesis 2's way of saying God made us in his image and likeness, that who we are is a gift from God, which is true however God made us.

Absolutely! This is how millions of Christians have looked at creation and evolution ever since evolution was proposed in the 19th century. This is the view variously called theistic evolution, evolutionary creationism or evolutionary Christianity. (The latter two terms are preferred by Christians with an evangelical theology. Google them to find some interesting web sites on this concept that are wholly consistent with both evolution and the Bible.)

Which part of that story sounds like evolution?

Does this mean that God literally has hands and a mouth?

If you read that carefully, you'll see that God is creating man out of the raw materials of the earth. Exactly what evolution claims.

When God created man in his own image, it was his spiritual image..God has no physical image, because he is pure SPIRIT...
The way you look at the situation is ultimately YOUR choice, and no one else's.
Peace
