  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Could that end the Cold War?

If the Catholic Church made women priests,
they might be brave enough to get married,
to Russian Orthodox priests.

Could that end the Cold War?
It's not possible because

#1. The Catholic will never ordain women
#2. Priests in the Orthodox Church, as far as I understand, must be married to an Orthodox woman because it's a shared ministry

This has nothing to do with the "Cold War."

Could a woman priest win the Nobel Peace Prize?
If she's Anglican/Episcopalian, or part of the Old Catholic Church, sure!

United Methodists, ELCA Lutherans, certain Presbyterian and reformed traditions, among many others, also ordain women but they do call them ministers or pastors. Not "priests" because Protestants emphasize the universal priesthood of all believers.

Also my understanding is that Orthodox priest cannot marry once ordained, they can marry before ordination, and stay married.
That’s also my understanding, but I’m not sure.
