...the different branches of baptists. Whats the core theology diffs of each and the other diffs between southern baptists, united baptists, independent baptists, north american baptists, missionary baptists, national baptists, general baptists, anabaptists, conservative baptists, and american baptists. I was looking at the makeup of fuller seminary and didnt even realize there were so many demoniations of baptists. Thanks.

Hi Mike!

Pick up the book "The Baptist Heritage" by Leon McBeth it is the essential info on Baptists and the divisions within the Baptist system!! It has all of those that you mentioned and more!

Ok not only pgmike but everyone should get a copy of this book!!!

Some of the differences are minor some are more significant... for example
(in a very very general simplified sense) the particular baptists think that Christ only came for "particular (certain) people" while the general baptists consider that Christ came for all people. Of course there is more to it than that.. but pick up the book. It's worth it whether you are a Baptist or not.!

Maranatha,

BT

Also the Trail of Blood is a good piece to read. It's very small and it's actually notes from a sermon, but it does give some history of the Anabaptist's and where they came from.

From all the different associations of Baptist's I know, most only differ in belief in predestination and how missionary work is handled.
