Folks, I don't go for conspiracy theories, but I have to admit that this is a good one.

All over the web, people are complaining that they are being tricked or forced into upgrading to Windows 10. And, as is the case with every new Windows operating system, the home users are the pioneers in getting the problems worked out. It is unlikely that they will sue Microsoft, which blames them for the problems.

However, hospitals, fire departments, police departments, and businesses don't have the luxury of being shut down. They are often using XP. The ones using 7 or 8x often have an IT person with the ability to keep them off of 10. They will miss out on having their systems shut down because of glitches in a new OS. Service organizations are rarely the first to change to a new operating system. This is fine with MS, because they don't want to be sued. By forcing consumers to switch to 10, MS can get the bugs worked out safely.

Hospitals, fire departments, and police departments would, in 99.9% of situations, be using Enterprise editions of Windows which aren't eligible for the free upgrade. They would also be likely connected to Windows Servers with WSUS and manually approved updates (and ones that are automatically approved can be revoked).

It's not so much a conspiracy as Microsoft trying to pull an Apple and say "LOOK, FREE UPGRADE! DO IT DO IT DO IT!"

Most of the bugs were ironed out in the Preview prior to its release (and in all honesty, even the first publicly available Preview was stable and very usable), and there are still an awful lot of people (including me) who opt-in for Preview builds that get tested before Microsoft release stable builds to the general public.

Within reason, Windows 10 is currently usable in a corporate setting, disregarding potential retraining and proprietary programs that may have issues with it. Either way, there's only 4 years before mainstream support ends for Windows 7, so Windows 10 will certainly have to be looked at seriously in the here and now.
