  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I was reading Matthew 25:31-46 this morning, and I've been thinking about it all day. In this passage, Jesus doesn't say anything about faith saving, He is talking about feeding/clothing/sheltering (works?). I guess I am confused about faith being enough, versus what Jesus is saying in Matthew. Or maybe I'm reading too much into this passage - as I understand that once we are reborn and have the love of Jesus we will want to feed/clothe/shelter the unfortunate (not because we are required to, but that we want to).

What I get out of Matthew 25:31-46 is that our faith is only real if it leads to works. Faith is dead that does not demonstrate itself in action. similiar to what James said in James 2:14-28

Once we come to Christ, good works happen. The works is a result of our faith.
