Confused

What is the go with "cyber-corps" in the naming of this forum? I'm so confused...

I think I'm definitely missing something.

In the Salvation Army, each individual church/congregation is called a corps (pronounced core). Corps is a military term meaning a specialist group of soldiers, eg. Marine Corps. Not to be confused with corpse, which is a dead body.

So cyber-corps translates to cyber-church.

Yeah, thanks for your responses. But it's the "cyber" part that throws me.

When I joined CF we had a thread in the methodist section for Army stuff.

But we wanted a place of our own. Whe we got it we called it Cyber corps because we are in cyber space.

My dictionary says that cyber is a prefix, which means 'virtual, pertaining to computers'.

Hi, I am glad to find this! I am(was) a Salvationist as a young girl. The closest Sal.Army Church is 45 miles from me. Even to this day when i am asked what denomiation I am, I reply, I am a Salvationist. Of course sometimes I would get some weird looks then I would tell them, The Sal. Army. Nice to meet everyone!
