In my experience some of my best compositions, both musically and lyrically, have come in "spur of the moment" situations.

When I sit down to write a song I tend to get writers block.

Years ago when I was finishing up my album I was short one song. I just started to speak to some friends and we got into talking about people that grew up in church but had gone back (back sliders). One of them was my sister.
We wrote a song and it was the most incredible song ever. Whenever I went out to sing this song the altar would be filled with souls wanting to come back to the Lord! ALL HONOR AND GLORY TO GOD!

So, it was and still is a blessing to see that something you composed can affect so many people!

Blessings!

definately agree with alabale for the spur of the moment thing, my best stuffs been then!

I'll go through phases of writing like 3 songs in 2 days, then brushing up on them later - i'm currently going through some of my older stuff and adding bits in, now that i've got a bit better at guitar etc.

It's good when you have inspiration, otherwise it's frustrating at times!

Excactly! I have about 4 songs in that category and about 4 in the "I like them but not sure what to do to finish them" category lol.

It definitely is a love-hate relationship for me too.

i love composing. i have to do it for my GCSE so that got me started. i like composing all sorts of different things, and now i'm in a band with my mates i write stuff for that too. it is really frustrating when you've got what you want in your head but can't figure it out though!
