  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Well, I have finally given in-I just bought two Coldplay albums at Best Buy-each for only 10 bucks! Sir Elton John likes them, and I'll give nearly anybody the chance if Sir EJ likes them. Sir EJ has a great taste in music, and I trust his judgement. Plus Coldplay is British

Anyway, I got the new CD that just came out today, and I'm now listening to A Rush of Blood to the Head. I really love the song Clocks with the piano intro and all, and didn't know who played it until now! In fact, I had the impression that it was a U2 song. In fact, they sound a lot like U2 to me. I like the sound so far-I don't really focus in on the lyrics that much-this CD could easily be played in a coffeehouse I think I've found a great band!

I do have a question. How did they come up with their name?

Coldplay's new album...sucks. Parachutes was good, A Rush of Blood...was just okay, the new one is just...same ol' fake plastic Coldplay. The thing about them is that they haven't really progressed musically. Most of their songs sound like their previous work. Bleh. Travis and Radiohead rip offs- and bads one anyway.

I take it you didn't listen, then? It's a progressions. Speed of Sound, What If, Fix You, none of them sound much like their older songs. Whether or not you like it is your own opinion but to say they sound similar is nuts.

If anything I'd say they went almost retro and started doing Bowie and Beatles rips.

I agree with antiarte; it does sound mostly like their old stuff. I mean, come on, play "Clocks" next to "Speed of Sound" and tell me you don't hear the similarity.

In any case, I don't really care. It's still good stuff. Who ever said all music has to be original?

clocks and speed of sound have the same piano progression. It's really noticable because they both start with the piano solo intro.

i personally didn't care too much for clocks, but i really like speed of sound.

X&Y is a great progression for coldplay. it's not completely different, but that's ok. I find it more disco/heavier than their previous work.

i also just bought their live cd/dvd from 2003. that's great too. i love the energy that they give to yellow.
