  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

s0uljah is posting that the Catholic Church teaches that humans are co-creators with God. I said that only God can create. We procreate, or reproduce as instructed by God.

His reply was... Are you married? Are you Catholic?

I guess he thinks that God only allows married Catholics to be co-creators.

Is this really a Church teaching?

s0uljah :

Please, what is your problem today?

You said that you were a co-creator. I can quote you if you want.

I did not like it that you elevated yourself up to such a level. But when you said it was your church teaching... I backed off.

I came to this forum to find out if it were true.

I have no desire to quarrel with you.

Why are you talking about yourself in the third person?

Yes, you have no quarrel but you say you have righteous anger towards me. Got contradiction? Got Hostility?

If you read my posts...I am not equal with God. I have no concept of such an insane idea. I simply said God gives myself and my wife a gift when He lets us create with Him.

To Stormy:

It sounds as if Souljah was discussing making babies. If he were to make that same statement using "procreate" instead of "create," it would sound awkward.

Men and women do have a very large part in the making of babies. Ultimately, though, the child comes from God. The whole concept that making love with someone you love very much can actually produce a human being is mindboggling and humbling. Sounds like THAT is what Souljah was trying to express.

Peace be with you,

Vow: You sound like such a wonderful sweet person.

So the Church does not say humans are co-creators?

That is good.

S0uljah is having trouble comprehending our life and how it fits in with the powers of God. You might find reading his self-torment thread on Josephus forum interesting.

Maybe you can help him understand since you are both Catholic.

CATECHISM OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH
THE PROFESSION OF FAITH
SECTION TWO
II. "BODY AND SOUL BUT TRULY ONE"

372 Man and woman were made "for each other" - not that God left them half-made and incomplete: he created them to be a communion of persons, in which each can be "helpmate" to the other, for they are equal as persons ("bone of my bones. . .") and complementary as masculine and feminine. In marriage God unites them in such a way that, by forming "one flesh",[245] they can transmit human life: "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth."[246] By transmitting human life to their descendants, man and woman as spouses and parents co-operate in a unique way in the Creator's work.[247]

To Stormy:

I started reading that thread in the Josephus forum, and the hostility got to be more than I could stomach. Everything I read by Souljah (before I quit, that is) seems to be his confusion between "predestination" and "free will." This is a common confusion we all undergo, and it takes a bit for us to become comfortable with our decision. The decision, though, is personal.

You really need to get into a conversation with a strict Calvinist!

Oh, and to the best of my knowledge, Souljah is NOT Catholic, he is considering becoming Catholic, however.

Peace be with you,
~VOW

This a carry-over from another thread, with the same overtones of miscommunication and personal attacks. If anyone wants to seek clarity of what sOuljah meant, please PM him, and stop subjecting the rest of the members to this non-Christian display of hostility.
