Hello ladies and gents! I'm launching a new site: http://www.christiangameservers.com

The purpose of this site is to provide a safer online gaming environment by hosting games with moderators and swear/gore filters if applicable.

We'd like to rent dedicated dual core severs and we need to capture feedback to find out if there is a demand for this service and if people are willing to pay a small monthly fee to help offset cost. In return they would get to choose what games/maps/mods we host.

Please check out the site/forum and if you're interested please join our mailing list.

Sounds like what MoG (Men of God) did sometime back. I was involved with them like 4 years ago when I hooked up with the SWG MoG Player Association division. Not sure if they are still around, we split off from them to form IXOYE for SWG after some controversy within MoG. I’m not sure if monthly fees will work, may want to look into donations and start small at first maybe. I have seen dedicated servers go for $30/mo. You don’t really need beefy servers to run a game server, especially if it will run under Linux.

I like this idea too, I reckon that admins on the servers is a sure fire way to keep the undesireable players out. I ran a server ages ago for BF1942, where we had admins on 24/7 and it was one of the most popular servers in the UK at the time. It was full constantly.

thanks for the positive feedback. Right now I'm running a dedicated server for my website ccgr.org (it's too popular for shared hosting) I'd prefer to have a seperate server for the games. I thought a dual core would let us host a couple-few different games without bogging down the system too much. I was planning on debian linux. I'm weary of those $30 dedicated servers they are often celeron or durons with paid reboots/resets etc

Ummm I guess…. But not many $30/mo servers out there though and the one I had in mind uses AMD (only thing I use) and has reboot included (though not unlimited of course). Oh well, yeah lots of $250+/mo servers out there to choose from, good luck.

I am running a message board involving games with NO traffic. I advertise on my main message board (texasracingscene.com) while solicit support in various other boards.

To no success. (speaking from experience so you don't think I'm an idiot)

Anyway, your forum software needs to be something a bit more flashy. Vbulletin.com or something along those lines could help you with that.
