Julian means Christmas is December 25th? Forgive my ignorance.
Christmas is on December 25th on both the Julian (old) and Gregorian (new) calendar, but the Julian calendar is 13 days later than the Gregorian calendar, so count 13 days after December 25 and you find yourself on January 7th. The civil calendar used around the world corresponds to the Gregorian calendar. Today is December 31st on the Gregorian (new) calendar, but is December 18th on the Julian (old) calendar. Tomorrow will be the feast day of St Basil on the new calendar, which won't be celebrated for another 13 days on the old calendar.

My parish (OCA church) has a vigil on Nativity Eve and a Divine Liturgy on the Nativity. We have the vesperal liturgy of St Basil soon after for the Feast of St Basil (12/31) and for the Eve of Theophany. I’m not sure why we don’t use it for the Eve of the Nativity.
