Thank you Angel' Sis'

I have added several more images to my post above
original, plus black & white_sepia versions of the same pic, while retaining the original of Mary and I throughout
Your reply ocurred BEFORE my edit was posted

Is your post and wire pic [above]
a superimposition, of 'another post' pic
over the lower resolution /unfocussed background [?]

I am endeavouring to reason what happened
to the post from it's original pic ... LOL it feels like being back at school

Nice pictures Brother Dave - thanks for sharing.

I've been reading a variety of great Christian materials today, and I'm having a great day. I wish the same for everyone.

But don't go to any bother.... I will work toward creating a similar
and so learn, what happens in the process
I have some 'OLD' wood here in the garden

OOps...this is my original Dave:

I converted it to black & white....used a sepia filter from Cs5...probably also adjusted the levels of B&W and contrast...I can also adjust the reds & greens in B&W, I might have done that too...then put the texture on top.

This guy puts out beautiful free textures and tints, I use a lot of his work. He also sometimes tells us how he did his edits.

Thank you Angel' Sis'
My 'study' continues

So the pic I chose for my next-effort is a 2816 x 1584 pixels image
of the Moat, around the Bishop's Palace, at Wells Cathedral, Somerset [near Bristol]

Reduced in size, to 800 x 600 pixels for forums display
Copy of Original [reduced size]

Black and White.... added contrast.... reduced brightness

Sepia ... added contrast.... colour black selected [magic wand] and it's contrast reduced

Hybrid, of Original, Black and White and Sepia versions

2nd Hybrid... includes use of increased saturation.... reduced hue and further adjustments of selected areas

Beautiful pictures - THANKS - I enjoyed them.

Speaking of beauty, my wife and I took another drive out into our Wildlife Refuge tonight. We saw a lot of animals the last time, but we were stopped from going to our favorite place by a wildfire being fought. We went back tonight and were pretty sad to see so many more acres burned and black, but we saw more animals than ever tonight.

We are assured that all of the animals will be cared for. In the midst of all the destruction, there was new life (i.e. deer, long horns, and buffalo). They are beyond cute and beautiful. I wish that I could take good pictures, but that isn't one of my skills. Many of the animals we saw tonight were just days or weeks old. It's a stark contrast between what is destroyed and what is new.

Yeah Dave...what a lovely place to live and find subjects to photograph....
better than an old post with wire...

Awww, we do have our 'place', in the world
But I no-longer live, near the place in the photograph above
and it was my one night's stay in Sharon's family caravan that provided the opportunity
during my trip to Bristol, last month
I guess, that you have, many views, around and about you
that would make for very interesting photographic subjects and, that it is
that you see them, as 'everyday'-environmental surroundings
that precludes your seeing them as sufficiently 'interesting'

You have the 'light' where you live
to be able to make very-interesting portraits, inclusive of, SHADOWS [for an instance ?]

Thanks Bro' Tom
yes, we do see 'catastrophy' being overcome with new life, in an never-ending, ongoing way
His way ?

There are a number of very-cheap 'point and shoot' digital cameras out-there
that provide VERY GOOD images indeed
Certainly, any [automatic] camera, of 6 megapixel and above, with a 'Leica' lens
would capture excellent images
with the camera having been placed, on a firm base [kept still]

if you don't try.... your natural talents_ EYE, for a scene, will
always go undetected and remain an unknown
If you have the inclination ...just, go-for-it !!!

Thanks Brother Dave for the information on a good camera. My wife and I just might go shopping for one soon. We have a Kodak that might work if we learn a little more about how to use it. I wish we had the camera with us on our last visit to the Wildlife Refuge. We had to potential to take some really nice pictures. We've had several times just recently with wild animals just feet away from us. A couple of weeks ago we were sitting on our favorite bench near a stream with a 10-point Bull Elk just about 25 feet away from us. We just sat quietly and watched him eat. I assume he didn't think we represented much of a risk. The animals on our refuge are definitely wild, but they are all completely protected, so many of them don't fear people.

At the least, you've encouraged me to try some more with pictures.

I share what I have Bro' Tom

I used to own a 35mm SLR Agfa Isomatic Rapide
I found 'film and processing' so very-expensive

Digital Cameras... although initially 'rather expensive'
do permit 'selection' of GOOD PICS allowing a pre-print-shop analysis, of your snaps
Printers are quite cheap also ... provided, you refill the cartridges yourself

All digital cameras have 'memory transfer' ability
ie: USB output patch cord to PC / memory card <needs adaptor /card reader port

There are image editing software programs available for free
for those excellent 'snaps' that need a little 'tweaking' to be perfect

I have found Paint.net to be an excellent 'support tool'
and use it, to produce the graphics you see me posting, here
It is available at www.getpaint.com

I have also used Imikimi Plugin for PC which is very useful for cards

example
:

We do BEST, that which we enjoy
and when others also enjoy what we share, are we not then, encouraged ?
