My mom did that to me, when I was young (Before the vacs came out), She would make me to go every kids house that we knew that had chicken pox, so I would be exposed to them. I still never got them and had to get the vacs when I was like 16. So I didnt get them when I was older where it can cause a lot of problems.

Our state vaccinates children at 1 year for chicken pox.
I was told that DS 'should' have the vaccine at 12 months and 5 years. They have recently added a second dose since it seems to be wearing off.

I highly doubt I'd take my son to a party to get an illness. I also doubt doctors report illnesses as often as they should. "Oh your child is vaccinated it can't be that!" similar to being told my breastfed child couldn't possibly have an ear infection.
