  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I want a Mini too! They're just so cute. ; )
Yeah, me too. I've got one of those eMacs (the 1 GHz) and it kicks butt. There's only one computer in the house that's older than it is and it still kicks the butt of all the other computers (it's the only Mac in the house, btw). It behaves more reliably on the network with the PCs than the PCs do with each other.
Dude, if I had a Mac mini, I could take it so many places, the thing weighs less than 3 pounds!

If anybody can find me a more impressive machine than the Mac mini graphically for the same price, I'd be very surprised. You can't get a machine that good from any other company but Apple, you just can't, and if you think you can - then you'll realize while you're having to use it that you can't. This computer is so small, it's like it's no even a real computer.

I really like the new iMac G5s too. They all have gigabit ethernet and amazing graphics, 128 MB of VRAM in every single one! My youth pastor has one and he loves it, and he's crazier about Macs than I am, he has one in every single room of his house. He has 3 in his office across the street from the church ALONE.

Dang, that's too good for me My history: Could use DOS to decent extent by age 10, learned to program a bit of BASIC by 12(too little to be of use), built first pc by age 14, installed gentoo linux aged 15 on laptop, laptop hard drive broken by age 16, new computer built age 16, laptop revived age 17 with floppy disk freedos, cdrom slax and usb flash drive.

By the way, if you want a good deal, AMD is one of the best choices IMO. Somehow, I think Intel hates me(all my computers with Intel processors broke less than one year into it's life and had to get fixed). My first computer had a K5 at 75MHZ. Ahh, good times.

I got a mini and it is the only computer I use anymore. I thought about maybe buying a faster Mac but the mini does everything I want it to, including playing UT2004 and World of Warcraft.

Best computer for the money (but maybe wait a week or two, an upgrade appears to be in the works).

you could try a "barebones kit" like the Asus A7V600-X Barebone Kit on tigerdirect. You would still need to buy a hard drive and either CD or DVD drives. Some you will need to get a video card and/or sound card too... i know this is creeping along the lines of building your own, but it really is cheapest. Oh, you need the OS (windows) too.. (probably the most expensive part)
