I would consider taking the leave of absence and praying for what God wants you to do. The fact they gave you the runaround about a finacial issue when they claim to have a department that helps in those areas must be quite upsetting. A church should help its members in need. (See my signature..Acts 2 & 4 speak very clearly to this) When a leader or ANY Christian has the means to help and says "I'll pray for you" without providing the things you need then they have sinned against God point blank. James addresses this issue when dealing with the subject about faith without works being dead.

As far as your husband not going to church, that doesn't negate the NEED, nor should anyone stand in judgement of him if he trusts God for salvation. I didn't go to church for 6 weeks when I first received Jesus and it was in those 6 weeks that God delivered me from sins. I haven't been to church for 2 months now because my pastor closed down his home church services. I was in a slump for a few weeks (probably because I was arguing politics! ) but now it seems God is bringing me out of it.... without the "help" of MEN.

Just walk in the Spirit and seek God daily, and God will direct your paths.

PS: And the reply which said "God has you in that church so stay" is just an excuse to make people go to church. Maybe God HAD you in that church, and maybe God ALLOWS us to experience such things to see how we'll react to them. There comes a time to "come out from her my people and be not partakers of her sins." If you can't be instrumental in pointing out their errors, addressing the leadership with witnesses, and making changes in line with Gods will, then shake the dust off your feet and move on.

Also, realize Jesus warned in the last days there would be many false prophets, and people who claimed to know Christ but they are deceivers. We should avoid such churches/leaders.
