I completely agree. Some great points.

Hi! Welcome to this forum. It's cool to see that others can come and post here, because that's more like the real life. You can't put up invisable walls to people in different beliefs offline, and I don't think God would have ever wanted that. It's nice to see the walls come down in a constructive way here. I hope it all works out to be a blessing.

Ohh. Hey. Just got an idea.

What about having a specific subformum that's aimed more at being a support to new Adventists? You know, a safe place where they can ask questions and discuss things from a new Adventist or Christian point of view without the worries about other faiths coming in and..confusing things?

I know that, as a new Christian and Adventist myself, this would be a wonderful blessing! That was the main reason I came to CF in the first place. I have yet to read the Bible fully, or to understand a lot of even the basics..and I was looking for a safe place I could discuss these things within my faith and feel secure that the feedback I was getting was untainted (no offence meant to other religions at all, but it can become overhwleming and confusing if you get too many points of view at one time, before fully grasping something).

That way, we could allow general discussion in the main forum with other denominations and debate and such, but stil lhave that safe secure place where only Adventists can share together.

What does everyone think?

Just a little note for folks to ponder. Whatever issues you don't permit Adventists to discuss here will be pushed to GT etc. which are far busier and folks will be less sympathetic to traditional Adventist views.

But GT is not the SDA forum. It does not represent the SDA forum, nor does it speak for the SDA church.

If people want to know what we really believe they can come to our forum and find out.

The fact that certain ideas are manifested in other forums of CF doesn't mean they concur with what we really believe as a church.

We can't control what goes on outside of this forum; but we have been given the power to control what goes on within it; and I think it would be wise for us to take full advantage of this opportunity to do so.

For those who have been around a while, consider the EGW threads in GT started by YMS and Goya..

You may be wise to keep in-house issues in house.
You know just as well as anyone else that has been here for quite some time that these issues spring up in both the SDA forum and in other forums throughout CF.

Again, we can't control what goes on outside of this forum; but we can control what goes on within it.

I'm just curious, Tall, do you allow people to teach whatever they want in your church? Do you let people speak anything they want from the pulpit?

If not, why would you want people to do that in here?

Just as you have boundaries within your church, there ought to be boundaries in our forum.

Moreover, having seen what rules such as the no discussion of annihilationism one did, I don't know why we would want to be ruling out topics.
We aren't ruling out mere topics. We are ruling out dangerous heresies. There is a big difference.

In fact, the Bible has given us instruction to do this, and not without good reason. It would be wise for us to follow such instruction before more damage is caused.

I say those who value truth also value the openness to discuss all options. Just my take.
There is a difference between being open and being foolish, Tall! We can be open in the sense that we should encourage people to speak what's on their mind; but to allow anything to be taught in here without having boundaries is foolish.
