Celibacy and why?

this person would be sinning against their spouse in doing this and would need to repent.

in virtually all cases, celibacy is more a circumstance than a gift. some deal with it better than others.

find some things you enjoy doing and invest in those things and don't let anyone shame you into doing something else.

once you find your niche and can rise above the societal shaming tactics, you'll be okay.

Reading the Bible and hearing the teaching that the only sanctioned sexual activity approved of in the Bible is between a Husband and Wife..

2. Is it a religious reason or due to life situations or personal convictions?

Religious reasons and life Situation .. because i do not have a Wife.

3. When you choose celibacy is it for life or is it temporary?

If i get married then it will not be for life... So it all depends on if i get married or not..

4. How do you handle the intimate issues that you feel when they arise if any?

I try to avoid doing anything to provoke them and i avoid others who provoke them..

5. IF married, does your partner do the same OR is celibacy NOT included in a marriage? Was there an agreement made?

Not married..

6. Is celibacy in the bible and if so could you share the scriptures?

I would have to post all the scriptures that say what sexual activity is banned, take a look at Leviticus and you will see many.. It seems to cover anything other then sexual relations between a Husband and Wife..

7. What has being celibate done for you in a positive way or negative way?

Well it has protected me from entanglements caused by pregnancy and unwanted fatherhood.. alimony child support and all the stress involved with all that jazz..

8. If you believe being celibate is not Godly or scriptural pertaining to marriage can you share scripture and why?

I believe being celibate is scriptural..

This is Websters definition of celibacy. I have noticed a lot lately that persons profile status is one of celibacy. So I have a few questions:

1. i am not a celibate but i strongly consider it sometimes.. i guess i am not required to answer this question but i will answer it in case i become celibate in future..so i need to think of My reasons instead of other people (and their influence) who i think highly of just cause they are celibate... -sighs-

7. By being celibate i wouldn't have to worry about bringing up good moral children or about the relationship with my husband. i could spend that time in devotion of God.

8. Nope, Bible encourages people to be fruitful and to multiply however it does not oppose celibacy.

Not sure how you expect this question to earn you more insight "how one gets to this point".
"What if every one decided to become a plumber?" doesn´t seem to help me find out the reason why an individual decides to become a plumber.

In some cases, celibacy is the natural outcome of being asexual.

In fact, I suspect that the "gift" of celibacy, in its truest form, is basically asexuality, since celibacy in those instances really does come very naturally, as gifts generally tend to do. It's not a struggle to remain celibate; in fact, it would be more of a struggle to not be celibate (I learned this the hard way, back when I was married and being non-celibate was pretty much a requirement).

I speak as one of those individuals who frankly would rather make cookies than whoopie. This doesn't mean we don't experience attraction, but we simply don't feel the need to go through the trouble of getting physical about it.

There are too many humans ans a drop in the population would be a good thing for the planet. More celibacy and way more birth control are required.

The problem is that in test after test, when a population (rats, mice, etc) reaches a certain saturation point, when it crashes it does not level out at a sustainable level. Instead it becomes a total die-off. No survivors.

Blimey, that's a cheerful thought..........

Celibacy is good for secular reasons and spiritual reasons; but just in my opinion.

Secular reasons can be no sexual disease, no unwanted pregnancy, no emotional heartache if your one night stand doesn't call back, no fighting with a spouse, no divorce, ect.

But in my opinion celibacy is a lot more than just Behavior. Celibacy has to do with your mind as well. For example, you may be celibate because of absence of sexual contact, but you may struggle with pornography or lusting after another human being. In my opinion this is not true celibacy. Celibacy to me is absence of sexual contact of the mind (refusing to lust after people) and of the body (no sexual contact). But that is just my opinion. I'm sure a lot of people will disagree with me on that and I can respect their opinions.

Spiritual reasons that celibacy could be good is the reasons that Paul named. You can focus more on God. But that is not for me. I am not Desiring for celibacy because I want to focus on God more.

I do not consider myself celibate until I get my lustful thoughts under control. And I have been actively working on that. My goal is to ultimately be a celibate person in my thoughts and in my behavior. I have a lot more respect towards celibate people than I do towards sexually active people because they take control over their own bodies. My reasons are not for religious purposes or because I want to focus more on God. My reasons is because it would give me a sense of control over my own body and thoughts. I am technically celibate on Behavior but in my thoughts not so much. But I have been lusting less and less. Because I am actively fighting my lusts. A lot of Christians have told me that the key is to get married. I'm sorry but in my opinion I will lose my self-respect if I got married. I think celibacy is a good thing. And I hate marriage, but only for myself. I will celebrate somebody else getting married.
