  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I have to say, I'm not Catholic, and I think it's very unlikely that I ever will be (unless, of course, you're all right, in which case I will convert shortly after I die), but I have found Catholics to be good, supportive, people to hang out with.

It depends on the size of the parish - really, the same as Protestant churches. The churches in our area are rich in "ministries" - to the poor, youth groups, young adult groups, parents groups, hispanic groups, etc. The farther away from the city you go, they have less, but still choirs and youth groups at the very least. Dittoing VOW's suggestion - your diocese may be able to help.

As for youth groups, the main one I know of is called Life Teen. There are roughly 100,000 Catholic teens in it in the US, and it is actually starting to spread internationally as well. It started in 1985 in Mesa, AZ. There are many other programs though, and many are simply individually based by parish.

As to the 18-30ish range, there is what is called CYO, or Catholic Youth Organization. It is much bigger. It involves everything from retreats, to group meetings, to bible studies, to sports activities, to trips to conferences, and so on. Many singles are apart of it for fellowship with people their age.

These are the main ones, but often it goes by Archdiocese or even parish.

God bless

I know what you mean. I really have no Catholic friends and very little fellowship right now, in my church. It's more to do with my situation than with the church which is why I come to places like these!

Needless to say that the thought that there are a billion of us, whole convents and countries of us and many priests makes me feel better. I am a part of a bigger fellowship and family than I can even imagine, even if I am a minority where I live. It dispels my lonliness.

Thanx, Luv
Theresa
