  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Most think casting lots was a kind of gambling or like the roll of the dice. When you come before the Lord, according to your heart, the Lord gives you understanding. Your ability to provide the means for people to obtain righteousness is given by the Lord and this is your countanance and substinance and this is your Lot. So when they cast their lots in the book of acts it was to show whome the Lord had chosen to be part of the ministry of the twelve, along with the other eleven disciples. This is also what it meant with the Roman's casting lots for the robes or rainment of Jesus. It is like they all sat there and explained what it was they learned from the Lord. It has nothing to do with gambling. The Lord doesn't leave his pasitions of ministry to the roll of a dise.

As per C R F: Look at me, see how righteous I am. I know what everything means in the Bible. Give me a break!

Your wrong what you say there, I never proclaim my own righteousness. And the point of the casting Lots wast to show, every time people put in their treads they are casting their lots for the robes like the romans did way back then. And I said some people like to know what everything means, even me. I cannot be satisfied with just taking these things literally and I do have the gifts of the spirit and interpretation is one of them.

I don't think anyone accused the 11 remaining disciples of gambling when they "cast their lots" to determine Judas' successor. It says in Proverbs 16:33 "The lot is cast into the lap, But its every decision is from the LORD." I like how the NLT says as it is more contextualized for today "We may throw the dice, but the Lord determines how they fall.". However we also cannot forgot that all of this was done before the power of the Holy Spirit came upon the disciples. If this was post-Pentecost I am not so sure they would have relied on the power of "the dice" to determine their position instead probably taken the matter into prayer and acted as the Holy Spirit directed them. They don't seem to have this sort of hesitation and immaturity after Pentecost.

Well, I was saying they never cast dice or bones or stone or anything of that sort. They put forth their understanding and that is casting lots. The lord doesn't determine how dice fall or anything of that sort.
