Oh I see. I never had it so I didn't know what it consisted of. It reminds me of those Pearson candy bars they used to make.Thing is, Payday isn't chocolate, or at least the original isn't. I think I've seen a newer chocolate covered version in a store. The original was salty peanuts held together by some caramel-like concoction. I've never actually had it with beer, but in theory, I think it could work.
I forgot about Baby Ruth. I think that was my favorite as a kid. I had a similar experience - parents letting me go to a neighborhood convenience store on my own. I'd usually get a couple of pieces of bubble gum and a Marvel comic. Hulk, Spiderman, etc. I'd like to think my parents were doing the right thing, trying to foster a sense of independence and responsibility in me, but in retrospect I'm not sure, because it was usually preceded by mom saying "Here's a dollar. Go somewhere else." And I'll never forget the sad look on mom's face when I'd manage to make it back home safely.I used to love eating Baby Ruth bars as a kid. Personally, I consider that an elderly person's candy too. Based on my nonsense criteria.
Actually, Baby Ruth was my first taste of independence. Cannot remember how old I was, but the first time my parents let me travel to the gas station by myself I picked up a Baby Ruth candy bar. Did that frequently a lot back then. Sadly though... a few years later a kid did die going the same route I routinely took to get to the gas station. I know for her she actually ran back to her house to get change and on the way back to the gas station she was struck by a car. Not sure if she was getting a Baby Ruth candy bar or not.. lol.
Hulk, Spiderman, etc.
You're kidding, right. That's sad. do you still have those comic books, millionaire?preceded by mom saying "Here's a dollar. Go somewhere else." And I'll never forget the sad look on mom's face when I'd manage to make it back home safely.
