Can We Break Or Bend Bible Rules In Certain Situations?

I WONDER WHY JESUS SAID YOU CANNOT LOVE MONEY AND GOD AT THE SAME TIME, FOR YOU WILL LOVE ONE AND HATE THE OTHER.

hmmmmmmmmmm....Can't we Love or at least like both ?? (cause I enjoy money to give away in the main, and that is the truth)

But Jesus prefers ones heart and npt their money or gifts or sacrifices.

Every person loves the idea of being a giver of their abundances it gives them pride and honor and prestige...and a place of honor. The rich love to be seen giving of their riches.

But Jesus said, the woman with two mere coins gave her ALL, whereas the rich gave out of their abundance. The widow will be rewarded, it seems the others were not.

The Lord wants our ALL.

The poor and others and groups and the Lord accept whatever we give, but in truth giving ALL is the least we can give.

Does scripture teach this? Or is this just your idea of how the "poor" feel? If scripture teaches it, I will submit to it; but if this is just your idea, I, um, won't.

Please no cndescensing remarks, and CAPITAL LETTERS.

No where did I say I have given ALL, the Lord's commandments are to give ALL, becaiuse He gave ALL.

So please know the difference, all of us have fallen short, no one has given all til they have lived their life fully for the Lord, and given it to the Lord at death. We are all sinners, living only by His Grace and trying to give all because we love HIM.

Knowing we do not give ALL, all the time makes us hu,ble enough to keep going for HIM. Whereas the law keepers, in their self satisfaction think their law keeping makes them deserve their spot and makes them proud and better than others. NO WAY. Sorry those are CAPITALS of objectivity rather than a personal attack. NO WAY.

Sure I gave up all my inheritance, and career as an athlete and a scientist and had to forsake family and friends to be a full time missionary, but that falls way short of ALL my life.

Yet I know the Lord's truth remains..... He repeats it over and over and over and over again... Give ALL, and Follow wherever |He leads til death do us part with ALL our heart, soul, mind and body.

Surely you can understand this ?

Strange how the rich condemn the poor for being poor as if they themselves worked for their riches righteously. The rich always hate seeing the poor as it condemns them unless they have totally hardened their hearts.

My parents would never visit me in the 3rd world becaise they hated being convicted by the poor, because they knew they had it good in this life time and did not want to share.

The rich hate seeing the poor and therefore condemn the poor for being poor. But Jesus never did ?

The rich love the Protestant work doctrine and the God is gain doctrine, it comforts them in their riches. But the Lord won;t

What is your idea ? How do you feel about the poor ? Do you think it is of the Lord to share a little with them or should we condemn them for being poor. Or should they condemn the rich for being poor in FAITH ?

For me, this is not a cut-and-dry, black-white issue.

The Bible has plenty to say about caring for the poor, but IMO, the poor of the Bible are not at all like the poor in 21st century America where there are so many ministries and government agencies to provide for them. Those kinds of ministries/agencies did not exist in biblical times and the poor/homeless were destined to suffer eventual starvation and death from exposure. While this may sometimes occur in modern times, it is far less likely that it will.

Add to that the fact that many people are poor by their own choice or from too many bad decisions or simply an inability to hold a job. These people do not need more financial aid--since their inability to handle finances is the cause of their poverty. Then there are those who live their lives off the charity of others, who go from person to person, town to town, church to church asking for a handout but who will not look for work--these are the ubiquitous church-bums every pastor and charitable organization has to deal with, people who abuse charity and deplete resources needed to help the truly needy.

Then, on the other hand, there are some homeless people who are mentally or emotionally challenged or others, such as children or those who have suffered loss of a job, etc., through no fault of their own. These people deserve all the help they can get.

Bottom line, I will help the poor (but never with money), feed them, buy them clothes, pay their utility bill, buy gas for their car, support the Salvation Army and Love INC, and do what I can for those who are in need, but I will be as wise as a serpent while I am being as harmless as a dove.

Sorry i did not communicate my thoughts well. i do not feel all poor people feel thsi way, i do think thre are some who have given so much they are in need too and feel proud of their giving and talk down to those who still have things such as the person i was respoinding to.

Of course i have no idea what is in the hart and mind of that person but the tone of their post is condenscending.

i do not disagree with giving all to the Lord. I do disagree with rich or poor looking down their nose at others on the opposite side and judging the position those people in. i know when i am able to give out of a abundance or even in need myself i do it anomously so none can say i give to receive honor.

Actually I see it differently, as I see the handouts being given to the rich, and welfare given to the rich, tax exemptions to the rich from the rich. I see the rich as stealing from the poor. They steal their lands, their resources, their people and then blame the poor countries for being poor.

Bless the worldly poor Lord and righteously reward the rich who have stolen from the poor. And apparrently because of prophecy and by design, the rich and their banking system finally bo bankrupt of their power and riches in the End

There is a key verse yer missin there.

24 No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.

Serve here means of those who become slaves to some base power, to yield to, give one's self up to.

Money is a tool, nothing more, nothing less. We use the tool, the tool doesn't use us.

Agreed, if they can not say or write rationally, logically or spiritually against a concept or truth, then it very well must be right. Agreed. if they have to try and discredit the messenger because they can not discredit the message, then it all probablity the message must be right.

I mean, how can giving ALL to the Lord be wrong ?

Who can differ ?

NO ONE ?

So YES, We might as well face it, we are expected to give ALL to JESUS, that is the LAW. So thank the Lord for HIs MERCY and GRACE because none of us have given ALL.

Therefore lets be humble and just try to put Him and OTHERS FIRST in our lives !!
