Can one still be save and learn the right teachings of God without being a church mem

Wouldn't that depend on the conditions under which the person left and who knew about it?

For all the Church members know(for those who were not close enough to the person to know), the person was off doing a year long mission

I believe that Zaac has answered the question posed by JT better than I could. See, I was away from a particular church for a year but was welcomed back with open arms because it was just because I was working in another city for a year.

I believe that, if the church is truly Christian, they would also welcome back others who have left. If the person feels uncomfortable if is probably becaue they know the reason/s for leaving were not the best in the first place.

I know who you are talking about however, and I can fully understand this person's feelings on the matter. We are all human and are more guided by our feelings than anything else generally. I for one would love to see this person come back to church. It would prove to others (not myself because I already know) that there were no sour grapes or anything like that. You know that we have been trying to encourage this person to come back to church. The ball is in their court. They need to work out their issues and hopefully come back even stronger for Christ. I hope and pray that this happens sooner rather than later because time will be running short and we do not know when probation will close for us.

Whatever way it is approached/handled it will be difficult.
Especially when the person feels like they have been discard like the trash. I mean should not in 12 months a Church pastor visit been done, in fact many?
It is a pretty poor shepherd who when one of his flock goes missing that they ignore and forget about them, without even trying to get them back, now isn't it?

One member, asked on another thread why I was not a member of a church. so I have started this thread to see what people thoughts are in relation to my belief. I have been going mainly to an SDA church here in Townsville (Australia)where I live but am not a member.

I often feel my walk with God is and has been a very lonely one, rarely do I feel he is next to me and often I see myself talking the wrong path. However I do know he is there and I firmly belive in him.

I mainly do see SDA using the scriptues but sometimes not and it does worry me. Thus why I have gone to other denominations churchs, inc RCC, Uniting, Baptise, AOG, CoE etc to listen to their sermons etc. I have yet to find one that I am completly happy with, the SDAs have been the closest to the mark.

Do others feel like this in relation to their church/denominatio, Maybe it is just me?

I read history, inc Relgious History and can see sometime when these faiths are not truely using Gods word, the Bible in their sermons. Many churchs keep Sunday and only after pushing admit, Saturday was the Sabbath, Biblical evidence and historical research, points to it being the Holy day. Thus why I have been going to SDA, however I was baptised, in a Christen Bretheren church in Bundaberg (I now live in Townsville 12,000km away from that church). Intrestingly enough, the Christian Bretheren church there had 2 services a week Friday night (Sabbath) and Sunday and they did actually admit they had Friday night service to honour the Sabbath and Sunday because it was more traditionally accepted by its members, esp the new ones who come from other churchs/denominations, in the area.

I believe, I have learnt more truths here from some peoples posts (esp when they are referenced, because I look them up and read), then in some of the churchs I have gone too.

Hey all, I never said I was an easy study, and I have very strong opinions on what is right and it comes from Gods word.

No one needs to become affiliated with any church (denomination) to be saved. When a person becomes saved he/she automatically becomes a member of the body of CHRIST's CHURCH anyway. However, I do feel that those who do not get involved with a local church will miss a blessing, as he/she will miss being a blessing to that local church.

I agree that one does not need organized religion, to be a Christian.I ask < wHat do you mean about "Blessing"?

I thought the decision to be a Christian was accepting Christ as your savior, not so much about belonging to a church? Not a religion, a relationship?

I'm not sure if you're speaking of the physical church or the body(?) of the church (believers?), if it's the former, I thought God didn't have a house so to speak, he has a temple, and it's supposed to be you, (Christians), if it's the latter, beliveing in Jesus identifies you as a part of that body, and you're saved either way. Win Win

The Apostles and Disciples went throughout the land creating a Church by means of lots of Churches.

Is that not what's going on in the New Testament?

I don;t read where the evangelists were convincing people and then telling them to go away and live life as before. That doesn't seem hard to read about in the NT.
