  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Can I be a Christian if I haven't been baptised?

...Is it possible to be a Christian if I haven't been baptised?

Thanks for the help.
Even if you were baptised, believing that Jesus is your saviour, that wouldn't mean you had become a Christian.

Salvation is deliverance, deliverance from sin in the New Testament context.
"Sin" is falling short of God's nature (Romans 3:23) - something you cannot stop doing unless you receive that nature by receiving God's Spirit:

"he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost" (Titus 3:5)

"they that are in the flesh cannot please God. But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his." (Romans 8:8-9)

Get baptised *believing the above* AND pray to receive the above, it will be known when you have received salvation (and when you havn't) - see Acts 2:4, 33, 39; 8:12-18, 10:44-48.

Most "churches" won't tell you what I just told you, BUT, Jesus only set up one church, you only need to join that one - see Acts 2:37-39 for details.

The baptisms are metaphoric....

Real is what is behind the metaphor.

Water is as through the red sea and the cloud, as all of Israel were baptized into Moses, Scripture says.

Fire is by fire... which is the baptism of Jesus.

Any Christian is baptized if they believe..... by water, blood, and fire.

Those are our cycles: water, cleansing.... cloud, obscuring.... blood, sacrificial.... fire, shame fire, fire of purity, burns away cloud and dries up water....

Romans 10:9 If you confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Acts 2:38 Repent and be baptized, everyone of you, in the name of Jesus Christ so that your sins may be forgiven. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

"Should I get baptized?"

Definitely! The Bible speaks repeatedly about being baptized and Jesus said to do it.But The only method God has ever provided for obtaining salvation is by faith alone.

"Do I have to be baptized to be saved?"

Romans 10:9 is generally considered as the "minimum requirements" and it doesn't say you must be baptized.

Hope this is of some help

At birth I was baptized. Then at 7 I accepted Christ (through my dad). So I am saved.

Now my fiance, she says she was "born" into christianity because her mother is a pastor. I told her thats not how it works though. You can't be "born" a christian just because your parent(s) are pastors. Luckily she did get baptized/accepted Christ at 19.

Be smart guys and thank you!
The fear of The Lord is the beginning of wisdom.

The fear (respect) is to obey his commands, which in your case is to repent of all other doctrines, be baptised, believing you need to receive what all the disciples received (Acts 2:4, 33), and receive the same.

When will you begin to be wise holderlin?
