Do our heavenly friends know what we’re thinking?

“God alone,” says St. Thomas Aquinas, “can know the thoughts of hearts and affections of wills.”

So no, angels can’t read our minds.
But the angels—our guardian angels especially—can often tell what we’re thinking based on physical cues such as facial expressions.

It makes sense, if you think about it. A family member or a good friend can often tell what we’re thinking or feeling just by the slump of our shoulders or the very slight smile on our faces.

Our guardian angels saw us grow up. They’ve seen our faces and mannerisms since we were babies. They’ve been at our side 24/7 for all our existence, so they certainly can tell a lot through our subtle external signals (especially considering that their intellects are far superior to ours).

I've got a book here "Interview with an Exorcist" by Fr. Jose Antonio Fortea. He made the same point about the devil saying he can't read our minds either.

But due to his supernatural intelligence and very close obversation of our mannerisms, he can often work out pretty accurately what we're thinking.

Another aspect is that if we get some sort of spiritual message from God, the devil is aware of it. He'll then start to think of ways to negate it.

I claim to have had three "double whammies" (to use my psychiatrist's term as he has had them himself). They're like a very strong breath going through you in waves from head to foot, and in my case they were all used to hightlight a phrase someone else was saying. I still remember those three phrases word for word, plus the background, nearly 40 years later, and only because of the "double whammies" that accompanied them.

But between the second and third "double whammies" i experienced so many demonic counterfeits that I became quite cynical about the third one in particular, and I still haven't done much about it. The devil knew what was happening, and decided to frustrate it using similar methods.
