Forgive me that this is not exactly on topic, but I belive we could all take a moment to give thanks to one another and take off the gloves.May God bless you in all that you do.
Yes my freind it is very sad, I wonder sometimes if god laughs at our ignorance. God Bless youTheBear said:Thank you, 1denomination.
Yet within a few posts, this very thread turns into off-topic debate. It's sad to see that some are unable to take a step back and look at the bigger picture - the one depicted in the OP. Instead, they delve right into the differences - in full combat mode.

I don't think God is laughing. I think it's more like God's frustration, exasperation and grief over our shortcomings. It's probably more of a sad thing, not a funny thing, to God.
What big words? I am not sure what you mean.1denomination said:But Vance my friend I've never said you just need to belive the bible, either. but none of this was the point of this thread lets please keep our kool.(and really big words to ourselves) haha. Love ya brother.
Not our differences of belief, but our differences in attitude toward the other, which has a direct impact on the relative civility of the discussions. It is ironic that those who are most often calling for us to have pleasant and non-confrontational discussions are usually the ones making the types of statements which result in the discussions NOT being civil and polite.TheBear said:Yet within a few posts, this very thread turns into off-topic debate. Agreed, but the problem is that we would not need this type of OP if we just followed the rules I have suggested. I did NOT bring the debate into this thread, I did not bring up a single origins issue. I was discussing how we could interact with each other in a Christian way on this forum without having to "put the gloves on" in the first place. I thought this was completely in the spirit of the OP: furthering Christian discussion in a civil and loving manner.1denomination said:originally posted by Godsaves
If someone can quote me please, Vance has me on ignore.
Vance you have over stepped your bounds in this thread. This thread's intent was to share our love for God and one another. This was meant to part from the debate, but yet you bring the debate here, when the OP asks to take a break from it in this thread. Can you at least in this thread honor the post and discontinue your debate. Is it that much to ask show our love?
Thank you for whomever can quote me. I doubt using the quote function would work so maybe you can just cut and paste. Thank you.
God Bless
God bless
Vance said:Ah, yes, if that was the intent of the post, then I apologize, and maybe you should start another since this one has been "tainted".
I thought you were posting to request that we make our debates less hostile and antagonistic, for which my responses would be appropriate.

May the Lord's blessings be with EVERYONE.

You can not have a civil and polite discussion with a fellow Christian after telling him that he has weak faith, a disbelief in Scripture and trusts Man more than God.
Any call for a better tone for the discussions must begin with a complete abandonment of all such polemics.
We can discuss the relative impacts the beliefs have, the various theological issues, the scientific evidence, etc, but we MUST start with the presumption than ALL of us believe the Bible, believe that God is all-powerful and His Word must be taking over man's word in every instance and we must presume complete faith in God. Our differing beliefs on origins have no effect on these issues whatsoever, and until that point is recognized and is reflected in the postings, the discussions will always degenerate.
I am actually touched buy this opinion of my thread, may God Bless you Bear And as this gives me 50 blessings I now have enough for a signature but that will have to wait for I shall give them to you.TheBear said:And I think that was the purpose of this thread.
I've done my fair share of in-depth discussions in these forums. I would imagine that you have too.
This thread OP topic rises above the fray of the various differences. It goes to attitudes and heart. It goes to a higher plane ... the bigger picture.
